Anyone think the brakes are a little underwhelming. I kinda felt the brakes are a bit squishy and then yesterday had someone pull out in front of me and had to hit them hard and they absolutely felt weak. Anyone else experiencing this or is this a precursor to the dreaded rear brake squek. Don't have any now but wondering if the ones experiencing the squell felt the pedal mushy before hand.

I don't have my truck yet but while the breaks are wearing in it could be that they have less bite.

I don't have my truck yet either, but I definitely thought the same during all of my test drives. I chalked it up to new brakes, but I am growing a little bit concerned about potential brake issues with this vehicle (see also: the squealing in reverse).

That doesn't seem to be the feedback that pretty much all reviewers had after driving gas models.

Are you sure it's not just about getting gradually accustomed to hybrid brakes? After all, on iForce Max every time you press the brake pedal the computer does have to make a judgment call as to whether to use and how much to mix regen or mechanical braking.

Could be, never drove a hybrid before but I'm not making the connection with the brakes. If I would have not push as hard as I did I was going to hit them.

Can't see where if the electronics have that much over riding power that it would have let me hit them. If so, they better go back to the drawing board because that seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen if they introduced any kind of delay when applying brakes in an emergency.

I'm no expert on the hybrid but that still sounds like just how the hybrids have been for years:

Hybrid Rav4 brakes don't have stomp on them braking power like a normal car. The amount of braking power is proportional to how far you press them, if you want max braking you need to push the pedal all the way to the floor.
Hybrids can feel a bit weird, kind of like there are two braking stages. This is because the initial braking is via the electric motor (regeneration) and then the brake pads kick in.
Two braking states is a great way to put this. They are very sensitive and feels like you go through layers of braking. I notice it so much now that I split driving time between our RAV hybrid for commuting and 4Runner for around town.
It could also be that your vehicle is something like 600-700lb heavier than a lower gas trim, yet the brakes on all 6th gens are said to be the exact same (unlike Tacoma).

My brakes are exceptional on my gas Sport Premium. It has big calipers on the front.

Brakes do suck. It is not linear, and the initial bite is not confidence inspiring. Tires make a big difference as well. KO3s will probably feel better.

You have better tires for street performance.
