Has anyone found that the JBL system in the sixth gen is not as full and basey as the fifth gen?

I’ve tried to alter the settings but really find that the sixth gen does not much have much fulness to the sound. What do other people think about the difference between the two generations and the JBL sound system? I am really hoping I have something set up wrong.

I can't compare to a 5th gen, but compared to the BOSE system in Mazda's, the JBL sounds more like a standard audio system. Toyota seems to have missed the mark with this one.

Look at this,
You're one of many, including me who have/had this issue. I installed this Beat Sonic Encore and haven't looked back.

Cant speak to 5th gen and this is my first toyota ever; but looking at the cubby on my SR5 that is open cavity where the JBL sub sits if equipped. It looks way to small for a premium sub.

Side note, for a standard audio system the base/non-JBL isn't horrible. You want crappy base audio systems look to the german brands.

Although it seems counterintuitive… to boost the weak sound from the lame subwoofer you actually have to play with the FADE setting and move the sound more forward (not to the rear). Then you will hear more of the subwoofer. If you fade toward the back it disappears completely!

And don’t expect miracles from the Beat Sonic. It just makes it louder, sooner.

I added sound deadening to 4 doors and replaced 12 speakers with Alpine and I don’t feel it was worth the expense or the trouble.

But it does sound a little better than my 5th gen did.
