So I think the ORP running boards suck if they get wet. I am looking at other options. I like the TRP pro minimilist design but the price for running boards seems steep. I don’t want the style where the step is lower than the bar it mounts too.

I was thinking maybe sliders but I am sure I need the added weight as I don’t plan on rock crawling. I found a good deal on Trailhunter ones but they seem to have no step and the add on steps seem meh.

So just curious what as other found, installed ect…

Genuinely trying to be helpful and understand what you're looking for...it's somewhat contradictory to want sliders with steps but say you don't like where the step is lower than the bar. That's sort of just the way these are. I have RC nerf bars on mine, which is steps on rock sliders.

I was able to get the TRD aluminum running boards for a little over $700 shipped to me. I think they look really good and I typically despise running boards. If you can wait for a sale and shop around a bit you might find a good deal.

Mind if I ask where did you find a good deal on trailhunter rock rails? The best in found from online dealer is around 400 each side.

Something similar to what the ORP has but actually has grip.

I don't like the look of the nerf/predator style ones and actually seem like could be easier to get stuck on something with them. Those are the style where the steps are lower than the bar that I said I don't want.

I never said I wanted sliders I actually said I don't think I want sliders due to the weight but was considering the trailhunter ones if I could find a good way to add area to step on. From what I have found they all have something below the sliders which seems to defeat the purpose right? All the aftermarket sliders would seem have the features if they have some grip on the top part but again I not looking to unnecessarily add weight.

These are what I got. They have a bed liner type of coating so they aren’t slippery. I bought them during a sale about a month ago and got another couple hundred off, plus free shipping.

These are the ones I plan on getting once their on sale again. They are just to expensive for what they are at full retail price. I could get a set of aftermarket rock sliders for what Toyota wants. They stronger than the plastic ones, and don't stick out as far. A good strong low profile set.

I had these runners stock on my 4Runner. I sold them and put on sliders because of how I am using the truck. But these runners are nice. Very grippy. If I was leaving in runners, I would pick these.

Yeah, I wouldn't have got them at full price either, but if you can hold off until a sale, shop around for the best deal and free shipping, they're nice. I am happy with them. I put sliders on my last 5th gen, mainly to use as a step, and the powder coating started to flake off, they got rusty and looked like crap in pretty short order. If you don't really expect to need them as a slider these are a better option in my opinion.

Those are the ones I was most interested in but the price seemed steep for what they were. Powered running boards cost nearly the same and non powered ones are nearly half that.

I was hoping there was something similar for a much better price but it seems like I will be waiting to see if someone sell some takeoff locally or wait for a big Toyota sale.

Just recently added Westcott Designs rock sliders. Well engineered with robust welds. Higher priced than options that are out there but I believe in the old adage; “Buy Once, Cry Once.”
