Just the other day, my wife and I picked up my two sisters from the airport and went to mall to eat dinner. Well, as I went over some speed bumps in parking lot at normal speed (under 1MPH), I felt the rear suspension bottom out on a couple of the speed bumps which led me to "crawl" over the next ones to not bottom out. I was nowhere near capacity weight wise and refrained from calling my two sisters overweight (they are not, well maybe a little) which would have resulted in a couple slaps on the back of my head. I had a 3rd and 5th gen in the past and never had this happen before with much bigger people.

Set up is 1" Readylift front only level with 285/70r17 SL Baja Boss AT tires on +25 Icon wheels.

Anyone else experience this?

Dang, that was some dinner 😀

As its not stock, I cannot comment. I can say, the 4R is not something to tow with or carry weight on board.

Lol, that was before dinner! I made sure to crawl over all the speed bumps after.

Yes, the front has a 1" level, but rear is stock, which I guess could be impacted by front lift, don't know for sure as that's the first time having passengers in rear. Payload was definitely below 1000#.

That is concerning as you seemed to be well under the payload limits. If possible, if might be good to compare with another vehicle. I have never had people in the back or at this point, no significant weight. If I do, I'll measure the rear before and after. I'll also find a few bumps to go over. I have the stock SR5.

I have a F350 FX4 for towing and transporting stuff so I may not get a chance to test the 4R. I. know I towed a 7500lb trailer loaded with stuff and the bed loaded. The F350 did not drop an inch!!

What makes you think the rear bottomed out?

you sure you bottomed out ?

-chalk the bump stops
-reproduce the 1mph 'bottoming out'
-did the chalk make witness marks ?

Very light in the rear suspension…Even my Tundra was very light in the rear… After a 2.5 lift in the rear I still bottom out.

We all felt it on the first couple bumps. I don't anticipate any more passengers anytime soon to replicate, but if any of you get a chance to try it, please do.

I noticed this once I put my Pre Collar Lift on from Westcott. I ended up getting some Perry Parts extended bump stops to replace the old ones, since they were starting to crack already. I believe when you put any lift on it, you just feel absolutely everything now, which I have no issue with

if the bumps stops don't get witness marks, it could be the internal shock stops hitting

you might find something to drive over and get max articulation in the rear to see what
stops you first, bump stop or the shock

I ended up adding air bags to the shocks as I was bottoming out over ‘wavy’ roads either camping gear and bikes on a hitch rack. Huge help and unloaded ride is unaffected.
