Does anyone have a 285/70r17 spare mounted under their truck and can provide some photos of how low it hangs? This stock one is pretty low for my taste, and I think I drug it on more than one occasion on my Colorado off-road adventure last month. Thanks in advance!

Here you go. I knew it was gonna hang low, but my wife's Limited will probably never see any hard off roading, so....for reference, it's a Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT

If you look closely you will note that it does not hang lower than the bottom of the rear differential. I would say that if you drag the spare tire somewhere you might have a bigger problem and maybe some real damage elsewhere.

Sure, if you're only on flat ground without inclines and declines. The spare is going to affect your departure angle while the diff won't. I have the trailhunter diff skid, and did not hit it at all on my last off-road trip, but I hit the stock spare many times.

Ruts and mud would be my issue and I would hit both, hanging up if the ruts are deep enough.

Had tire shop mount it the other day knowing that new 285 would hang lower than stock 245 by about 40mm. Didn't try to mess with it yet to see if they just hung it straight up without adjusting it for best fit. As it sits, it's about even with tailpipe on back end about even with diff on front.

Now I need to try to fit a 35" spare on my factory lifted Tundra. I read it's a hit and miss, depending on tire. Sorry, I went off topic
