Hello all, well I decided to do the OTT tune this morning in Orange, VA after reading some comments from other on this site who also had it installed. I can say when I took it for a test ride after install, I could not believe the difference it made the throttle response was instant. I have the TRD Pro and before the installation I felt that it had a pretty good pick up and response sure it has some turbo lag but that is expected. Well even in ECO mode if you hit the gas it responds in my opinion it was worth the $650 bucks for me as I live in the DMV or DC area if not familiar with that term, so traffic is horrible and you need to hit it sometimes to get around in this traffic.

John did my installation and was very knowledgeable and professional highly recommend him if in the DMV area. Another note he was doing a few other vehicles, and I took out another customer who had a 5th gen and he could not believe the difference between the two his first ride in a IForceMax 6gen I think he will be looking at one soon after his test ride with me lol.

Sweet!! Glad my long winded post didn't go to waste lol
Hahaha I was looking at it before your post and it just convinced me. Have you thought about an inner cooler like the one SXTH is selling since the turbo is in use a lot more? After I took a test drive granted, I was on it back and forth from a stop could really smell the exhaust I am assuming.

I will go full stage 3 and end up upgrading the entire system whenever it’s ready from OTT, until then I’ll hold off on everything. The tune is safe so I’m not concerned about it.

How new is your vehicle? Ours had a similar smell as well but I attribute that to the engine components being new and running for the first few times. My bmw did the same.

I have 0 experience in the Tuning world. Interested to hear that Iforce MAX can come alive much more than it already does. I do know Toyota stays very conservative in "pushing the limits" of their engine / transmission setups.
Curious to know a few things :
- Is there only one type of tune from OTT or different ones designed to improve certain areas ?
- Does MPG improve at all OP? ( I know it's hard to drive a fast car slow, and that a tune is meant for performance rather than efficiency.)

Thanks for your time!

I've been looking around and noticed that Banks has Hot/Cold side boost tubes for the I-Max Engine. I understand that they're also testing intercoolers as well. Sxth looks to have some nice products but not sure I would want their Cold Air Intake with all of the associated noise. I've used Banks products on numerous vehicles over time with real results. The new Cummins diesel engines are running a clone of his intake plenum stock now and I'm sure he had a patent on his design. I assume they paid the tariff to keep up with Duramax and Powerstroke engines. I would think that Boost Tubes, and a more efficient intercooler along with a tune would really wake up an I-Max? Magnaflow is working on a specific system for the TRD Pro 4Runner. Curious to see what sort of gains they achieve.

what all would be stage 3? I am not a car guy. I am starting my research and want to do exhaust, intercooler, air box. I need more power because I will be towing

That is something that I would let @JustDSM explain as he's the mastermind behind it all. For short I know upgraded turbo, and so on...

Edit: I know stage 2/3 is being developed for the 4GT - I'm sure the 6G4R is a similar path so don't let me misspeak

So just got my OTT installed today in Des Moines. I will say it does feel a lot different even in eco mode. The boost does come one a lot sooner. I was very hesitant at first cause my 4Runner only has 800 miles but in the end I believe the tune is great and it seems to work well with the engine. So OTT has done their due diligence to iron out any issues.
