About a year ago I started to think about what would replace my current 2014 4Runner limited. Initially drawn to the Land Cruiser, I test drove it and really liked it but knowing the 6th Gen was coming out in 2025 I decided to wait until I could compare the two side by side.

Long story short, I was team LC until this past June on a trip to SC where I saw a black platinum that had bigger A/T tires and I fell in love! I made a pros/cons list against the LC and landed on wanting a black platinum. I started the search for one and quickly learned how few and far between they were. Thanks to this site and the spreadsheets I was finally able to locate a fresh allocation about 220mi away in Charleston WV that checked all the boxes with options I wanted. A quick phone call with the salesman, a $500 refundable deposit and I finally had one reserved and began the wait.

Truck was built on 8/19
Placed deposit 8/20
On boat to Newark port 8/23
Arrived Newark 9/21
On transport truck 10/2
Arrived to Dealer 10/7
Drove home 10/8

Got the phone call yesterday afternoon to tell me it arrived and would be ready the following morning. I made a one way rental reservation and at 6am this morning I hit the road headed to WV. Drove it back today from Charleston WV back to Cincinnati and can honestly say I LOVE this thing! Averaged 21mpg coming back. Love all the technology, the power, smooth and quiet! (For a 4Runner!)

One thing that I was extremely nervous about was the blue interior. I’m a black on black car person and having never seen a platinum in person it was the one thing I was worried I wouldn’t like when It arrived. I’ll just say that pictures do not do this interior justice! I love it and couldn’t be happier!

Quick shout out to Rob at Victory Toyota Charleston for making this whole process so easy, keeping me updated every step along its journey from build and most importantly not trying to tack on all kinds of dealer add ons or BS and making the out of state purchase simple! Highly recommend them! I’ll include a picture of the options it has below.

I have it scheduled for window tint tomorrow, full frontal xpel PPF next week. I’ve already started making it “mine” today with full lasfit liners, OEM premium horn upgrade, Screen Protech screen protectors and have the Redline hood strut kit and the new 6th gen FitcamX dash cam kit to install this weekend.

Didn’t take a lot of pics at dealer as I knew I had a long day and just wanted to get back on road. Here are a few images from today including it posing next to my 255k mile 2014.

Great looking rig. Once you get the tint and the more aggressive AT tires you like (I remember the picture you shared), it's gonna be a mean looking, intimidating bad ass ride rollin' down the road! Not that it isn't already, but you know what I mean. Happy for you. Definitely worth the wait.

I don't like being the "I told you so guy," but it is well documented on other threads that I said you would like the blue interior. The orange stitching is beautiful yet understated. Now, you can customize your gauge clusters and start checking out all that new tech firsthand.

You were 100% right!! In person I think the interior may be the most striking part of it! It really sets it apart and makes it feel much more "upscale" than it is! I was messing with the gauge combos the whole way back from WV and think this morning I finally got them all set up where I want them! I couldn't be happier with this thing and look for any reason to get out of the house and drive it!
