Mountain Bikers, does your rig fit well inside?

Hi all, I'm new to this forum but have had three 4Runners before and been active on other forums. Now I'm considering a 6G SR5 gas. That to say I have an very large full suspension mountain bike and I'm hoping it will fit easily inside. It's a Specialized Kenevo SL (S5 size). The front wheel will be off and the dropper post all the way down. Thanks for your thoughts.

I would never carry my bike like that so I cannot say yes from personal experience, however, I would be shocked if it didn't with the seats folded down. Especially if you are taking your front wheel off. I have a hybrid so I lose some height but Google says there is 90 cubic feet in the gas model with the seats folded.

It will fit if you lay it down with the seats folded, but it might not be the easiest to get a heavier E-bike in and out through the back.

Not with the seats in it doesn't fit very well. Better if you put forks in first. I took 2nd row seats out it fits better now.

lower the rear seats
my specialized epic evo pro 29'er slides right in with wheels on
lays on it's side, rear tire up to back of front seats
front tire up to inside of hatch

fits great. gravel bike fits even better (epic is long)

S4 Stumpjumper, I don’t feel it fits very well honestly.

I have a Levo and a SJ S3, I just want the ability to squeeze it in the back in case I need, for example, to stay overnight in a hotel that wont let me take the bike in or if I need to go shopping and dont want to leave the bike out on the rack. I had a Kinevo SL S3 and it was a big bike but I think with the front wheel off you should be able to get it in.

I love almost everything about the 6G, but coming from the 5G the ability to hold my bike upright in the back with front wheel off is the biggest disappointment. Because Toyota decided to use the same seat for two row seating configurations as they do for three row configurations you get a seat that no longer folds flat with the cargo area. That means you can’t put the bike in back wheel first and lock down the forks in a fork mount. I use to carry two bikes upright in the back, which is a game changer for any trip where you might want to stop for food/drinks. I was on a medium enduro style but had XL bikes in there as well and they fit fine.
You can do one lying down in the 6G, but putting a bike in on its side is nowhere near as easy. Haven’t tried two but it would either be impossible or a massive pain.
(Removing the 2nd row seat is an option per another members post, but not a good option for me)

Hello I am in the same camp as I want to put my bike in the back.
I'm ready to take out my 60% side rear seat. Did you get any error codes when you pulled that seat out?

I have zero issue sliding either or both my bikes in the back

I use a panel of thin melamine and lay one down, drop bike on it, it slides
right in easy peasy and pedals don't snag on anything. bike is on it's side
and tucked in and use a bungee on the frame to keep it from sliding around
when cornering.

thing of it is, I ride and race a TON, and hate taking a wheel off for transport, and
will not transport them on a rack. I dumped my rav4 and got the 4runner specifically
because it will take any of my bikes fully kitted ready to ride.

so for me anyway, it's primarily a bike hauler, no other role. and my bikes get grubby
and can leave a mess if I don't hose them down, but ...my 4runner is a bike hauler and
I got handheld dyson to vacuum grime. I have front seat covers so my grubby rear wheel
doesn't mar up the back of 4runner front seat. the hatch inside plastic is marked up
with tire prints and scratches 'cuz that's how I roll, I'm never selling the 4runner so
it don't matta us.

My only use case for putting my bikes in the back is when i am staying somewhere and i wont be within sight of the bike (hotel or shopping for example) otherwise the bike is on the rack. Laying it in there sideways is fine for me, having to takr the front wheeloff is less than ideal but i can live with that. I currently put my levo 4 in the back of a 21 rav4, it is tight but doable
