Had a random thought this morning, coming from a 13 year old Subaru STi (and never having owned a hybrid) and moving to a TRD Pro hybrid. Over the last few years i've had need to jumpstart my wifes car more than a few times either due to an interior light being left on or our 9 year old having those brainpower lapse moments of leaving a car door open in the garage without anyone knowing about it until the morning.

What is the procedure and what caveats are there for jumpstarting another vehicle with the i-force max hybrid? are there any concerns with doing so? I took a look in the battery sections of the manual and did not see anything on the topic but may just have to dig in further.

Any thoughts?

There is a regular battery in the cargo area so it should be the same process as before just out of the cargo area.

I know there is a positive terminal on the passenger side under the hood in a fuse box that you can use to jump the vehicle, I assume you could use this spot to jump another vehicle.

According to the manual this is the recommended place to jump from. Page 606 of the 4Runner hybrid owners manual goes into it.

I started using a dedicated device for jump starting. The NOCO. Self contained, can be moved from vehicle to vehicle. I got the larger one to cover all my vehicles. Now, not more jump cables needed.

Agreed. I jump started a hybrid's starter battery with a Lithium-ion device a few years back.. kinda ironic. A must have accessory.

Thanks for the info about the jump point on the hybrid, valuable info. As mentioned, I have purchased several NOCO jump starters. I have one in each vehicle including our diesel pusher RV. They made great Christmas gifts also for our niece and nephew...
