I have a 2025 4 runner and I want to install a level kit. Has anyone does this with Toyota dealership to keep the warrant? Do you know any dealerships around the Bay Area that would do this for me? I am looking to get the westcott kit installed.

just remember the warranty period varies

if the option is on the vehicle when bought it comes with a 3/36 warranty.

if added after the purchase (regardless if you or the dealer installs it) it comes with a 12 month warranty (unlimited miles) or factory warranty (whichever is longer)

ie: if you installed the lift kit 12 months after purchase you would get 24 months.

if you install it 30 months after purchase the 12 months warranty would be in effect.

if you install it at 48 months, you get the standard 12 months.

so its either 12 months, or during the factory warranty of 3/36 whichever is greater

That is true. I am more worried about the powertrain warranty rather than the warranty for level kit.

When purchased at the same time as your new vehicle, only Genuine Toyota Accessories are backed by Toyota's 3-year/36,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty, valid at any Toyota dealership nationwide. For accessories purchased after the new vehicle purchase, the coverage is 12 months, regardless of mileage, from the date the accessory was installed on the vehicle, or the remainder of any applicable new vehicle warranty (whichever provides greater coverage).

powertrain warranty is outside the scope of accessory warranty.

toyota doesnt make any accessories that affect the powertrain.

keyword toyota accessories. aftermarket is a different story.

I mispoke. I am looking to get it installed at the dealership so I do not void any suspension warranty. I understand the accessory warranty.

I assume you are trying to find out if having an aftermarket lift installed will void out any other suspension components? Because I’m also curious in having lift installed

From my research it will. I am just trying to figure out if someone in here has gotten a lift installed by toyota. Do some dealerships do it and others do not. That was my question here lol.

Are you installing a strut spacer or what kind of leveling kit? That wont void anything. Not that anything would even happen with the suspension.

I asked my dealer about the Westcott lift kit since they also offered it with some of their own cars as an added option; they wanted 5x what Westcott was going to charge for the install...and that was over the 50% price increase on the actual kit. They would NOT install it if I bought it and brought it to them to install.

I had Westcott do my install after the break in period along with my wheels/tires.

Thank you!! How much were they going to charge for install and parts? Just want to get ballpark number to see if it is way over my budget for the labor itself. Local shop quoted me $1700 for the kit + Labor

That's not a bad price since my dealer wanted $2900 parts/labor for the kit.

I got my lift kit, wheels, and tires done at Westcott for $4700 OTD.

Google up the Federal law — the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act — protects consumers from being forced to use only original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts or services to keep warranty coverage valid.

I haven't done a ton of research, so don't rely on this as FACT, but I don't think Toyota can void the factory warranty just because aftermarket parts are installed. They CAN deny a specific repair if they can PROVE the aftermarket part DIRECTLY CAUSED the failure.

Key Takeaways from a very quick and dirty search:

No automatic void: Installing aftermarket accessories does not erase your warranty.
Burden of proof: If a dealer denies a claim, they must show the part caused the problem.
Protection applies: Even if a dealer misrepresents the law, you can challenge such claims.

Yes aware of this law. I am just afraid because my service manager at the dealership said that any aftermarket modification will automatically void the warranty. I guess he probs doesn't know the law himself
