Try eco or sport mode? I haven’t tried myself, now I will. But those modes help keep it at 15mph without flipping between 1st and 2nd so much… helps in a school zone
I drive in eco mode. I don’t think drive mode has anything to do with it. I’m not talking about drive mode. More how to engage to gear smoothly.

This transmission leaves a lot to be desired for the car price. I'd go as far as to say it terrible. Makes me consider selling this thing.
Well if you really feel that way then maybe you have a bad transmission? Either that or you are used to driving a dual clutch or Porche tranny and have unrealistic expectations from a truck. There is nothing wrong with my transmission. Is it a smooth shifting as my old GTI? Nope...but it is still pretty good and its a truck!

Exactly I am a rookie with truck here and even me understand your expertise as a long time truck owner I’m assuming. I was just asking people if there is a technique over come this. I accepted it is a truck and that how truck operated.

I have 25+ years of owning, driving, and maintaining Toyota trucks. Your attempt at clarity falls short. Carry on!
I have jeans older than 25 years...your attempt to impress me falls short! Sorry you failed to thoroughly test drive a truck before purchasing. I would've thought with all your experience you could've figured that out!

Touting ownership of 25 year old jeans is next-level dumb.

Put it in eco mode before I left this morning no bucking
It is definitely worse the colder the temps are. Folks that live in cold climates are going to notice it more often and for longer as the tranny fluid gets up to temp. I had a GMC Canyon that was the worst for this. Just putting it into gear when it was cold was a loud thud and then the gears were rough for the first 5 min of my drives.
