Ramps or floor Jack+jack stands?

Curious what everyone here is using and what feels the safest.

A good floor jack that doesn't take too many pumps to raise the truck will come in handy for years but it needs to have enough lift to it too as the front wheels will droop a lot when lifting. You can also use the floor jack in combination with jack stands to manipulate the rear axle when changing out rear coil springs. Whenever using the floor jack you should be using your jack stands to support the load while working under the truck vs. using the floor jack. If you plan on doing your own work you will gets years of use out of the jack and the stands.

So far I haven't used anything, as it has enough ground clearance to just do what I have done with it on the ground. I installed all 3 skid plates that way. It would have been easier with it lifted, but it really was not bad. And yes, I am a little fearful when I am under a vehicle...even on the ground! I keep imagining a tire popping or something (no, I don't really think that would happen, but my brain still brings the thought forward!). If I really do need to lift a vehicle, I set it on some heavy wood blocks such as 4x6 (larger dimension on the ground) and/or 4x4/2x4 in an appropriate place where they would not slip off. And I do not go too high with that so I comfortable that it will not slip/tip/fall. Wood will not break, so is safe that way. I would ever use something like concrete or brick, as they could crush and it would be quick and catastrophic in more ways than one.

I’m not. Any lifting it’ll go to a shop. But when the warranty and such is gone it’ll definitely be my Husband.

I highly recommend the hydraulic Quick Jacks. I used them for a number of years until I quit doing my own maintenance.

You drag them under, align with jack points and raise the whole vehicle with the push of a button. Obviously, you need to know what your doing and be careful.

Not used on a 4Runner and sold the jacks.

nothing, I crawl under it...plenty of room

if I need to lift it, I use the OEM bottle, chunk of wood when needed, and jack stands
