HELP NEEDED. Swapping out upper grille issue

So I'm swapping out the upper grille on my wife's rig and I'm suck on the bottom portion of the upper grille. The clips are super hard to pop out to completely free the grille. I've watched multiple videos and everyone skips that part of the removal/install is it bc everyone is breaking them? Any help would be greatly appreciate. Thanks in advance.

I don't remember which video i watched, but they showed details on how to do it. I do remember that when you got one out, add a rag in the gap so it doesn't clip back in.

I used a flathead screwdriver and just worked around the grill a little bit each time

Thanks appreciate that. That helped a lot. I disconnected the negative terminal prior to taking everything out but now I have codes popping up like grille shutter malfunction, any recommendations?

Sorry can't help on that besides drive it for a while and see if they go away. I didn't get any codes when swapping...not sure I disconnected the battery or not (been a year now)

I figured it out lol I'm a dummy and forgot to plug it back in

Haha oops! I was going to say I didn’t have any codes on mine either.

Hopefully it was easy to reconnect without taking everything off again!
