Google Maps directions now appear in gauge cluster after installing iOS 26

Turn by turn navigation can be seen in instrument cluster from google maps now, it used to be only pop up from using apple maps.

lol, saw this yesterday afternoon and i thought i simply hadn't noticed it before. was not aware of the CarPlay update, but yeah, directions now appear in the centre of the gauge cluster. as before, you can exit out of it with the circle back arrow

Tried it this morning and yes indeed it works, similar to the Toyota maps. I hope Waze makes it to the cluster some day.

It still pop on your cluster, just make sure pop navigation is turned on.

This is good news. I switch back and forth but have been on Apple Maps since learning it provided updates on the gauge cluster. Google Maps as a whole integrates better with my world so looks like I can go back to it.

Which one is it for the center directions? I can only get the nav on the right or left where it shows directions

dont use the Toyota Navigation.

use CarPlay & Google Maps to get it to appear in the centre

FYI - i was still on an old iOS. had two updates to do and it still appeared in the middle (was using 18.6.2, and have options to update to 18.7 & 26). The 26 seems a little random, no?

I am doing that. Before I got iOS 26 I noticed the Google Maps turn by turn started showing up in my nav icon on the side options but nothing shows up in the center…. I wonder if it’s cause I the nav one selected already

possibly. i don't have NAV as an option for the sides, on any of the 6 options (3 screens x 2 sides)
