Saw some videos/blogs mentioning a Generator Mode in Pro and TH models and it would be coming to ORP via software update. Does anyone know what this actually is and do you have to enable it somehow? Would be a cool feature for camping

What is generator mode? I have TH and never heard such thing.
Yeah that's my question. Supposedly it's for running stuff off the inverter and keeps the battery up. Motor fires up when needed. Overlaners use it for running Starlink/fridge/etc when parked. Sounds handy camping

Our power went out for a couple of hours and I ran some lights and a freezer off of the 2400 W outlet in the back of the 4Runner. The engine would start up now and then to keep the battery charged, I assume.

this is a 25 hybrid. I haven’t seen anything that talks about generator mode.

It always had been that way from the beginning. It designed that way.

Did you just start it and let it do the start stop stuff? Figured maybe this generator mode would be some minimal electric usage/turn a bunch of stuff off automatically mode

I started it, plugged everything in, and then turned the vehicle off. With that load on it, probably 1000 W, it would start up and run for about 10 minutes every half hour.

After the start button was off the inverter was still on and vehicle auto started?

i have already used my trucks inverter to run large things with no issue. I actually had to fast charge a Bluetti power bank on one occasion and used the trucks inverter to quick charge a 1000 watt system in roughly an hour, a process that usually i leave for a house to plug into.

When it was charging the bluetti (it draws 600-700 watts) my trucks gas engine would cycle on and off every 8-10 minutes and would idle for less then 2 minutes.

I honestly would say the gas engine in 1 hour ran for less then 10 minutes during my power bank charge session.

As far as I know it always works that way as others have said. When you put the car in park it does give a message that says it will turn off in an hour, but allows you to answer yes or no. The way it is worded is a little unclear, but I believe if you answer appropriately (No I think, but I forget the exact wording) then it will not automatically shut off. I would think that is for this exact purpose, to allow long-term use of the 110V ports.

Sounds like just function not some actual mode then. Lots of good info! Never thought about using it in a power outage
