I haven’t seen much info about front mounted dune flags, which is required for Silver Lake dunes in Michigan. Here’s one I threw together using some scrap metal and some rubber washers from Amazon. It attached to the front recovery point.

Got my new stickers, now I just have to find a weekend to head over!

Can you go to this park alone? Like is it a state park or is it an offroad park you need a 2nd vehicle?

Also, i assume you will leave the flag on when going to costco, to let people know you offroad? Maybe get a wittle wed trd flag?

All in all nice idea and looks awesome!!

You remind me that I need to get my ORV tags for the 4Runner. Nice flag solution! Have fun at the dunes.

Silver Lake Sand Dunes / State Park .
Great idea . I was thinking about bolting a metal bar to the skid plate , but I like your idea better .
Already have my stickers . Almost ready to go . Always a busy place all summer long .
See you there

Have fun! I was just there a few weeks ago and it was a blast. The local shop also has in stock flag mounts that work for the new Tacoma's and 4Runners so I just bought one from them. It was around $30.

Keep an eye on your transmission temp. Mine climbed when pushing hard up the dunes in 4Hi (similar to reports of people doing long uphills in 4Hi). I switched to 4Lo periodically and drove slower to let things cool down. It wasn't a big deal since I only did it a couple short times over about 2 hours of hard driving but it's worth watching. I reported it to Toyota since I would think my "desert runner" TRD Pro should be able to handle hard off-road driving in 4Hi in the sand but it seems the transmission cooling is not quite good enough under some circumstances.

I am from Chicago and have been thinking of looking into getting up to Silver Lake Dunes to test out the ORP. Couple of questions though...do you need any special modifications from the stock ORP setup to hit up the dunes? Looks like you just have the stock tires, do those work fine for the dunes? Are their specific trails to drive on up there or do you need to set something up in advance to drive there? thank you
