Hey guys, I recently joined the forum and had a quick question.

I have a black 2025 4Runner TRD Pro, and I live in Northern Ontario, Canada. After just one winter, my fender flares are already really faded and covered in rock chips. I honestly regret not getting them PPF’d from day one.

Has anyone else had the same issue? If you’ve had your TRD Pro fender flares replaced, what did you end up doing? Would you recommend getting them repainted at a local body shop, or is it better to just order new ones from Toyota?

Thanks in advance for any advice. I really appreciate it!

I have a black TRD Pro live in the snow belt and dread seeing my first winter because of this. I noticed it would be a problem real quick and bought the OEM mudguards. So far I noticed a vast improvement of what gets kicked up on the flares in this area and I’m hoping it helps but it looks to be the nature of the beast.
it would be really cool if someone came out with a cost effective pre cut ppf film or some protection for this area that can be easily applied and taken off. Paying to wrap the flares will be expensive and will turn dull and faded after the winter and will need to be re-applied frequently.

Ugh, that's no fun Raman. As the post above said, bigger mud flaps will help, but the paint is so soft and thin, the only thing that will really protect it is PPF. I've had mine for a year and just got some of then PPF replaced under warranty, as well as it was just chewed up in those sections. If you get them replaced, I would 100% PPF them. Good luck!

PPFBay.com rear fender film

$69.95 looks like this may be worth a try before winter. Has anyone applied their own before that could give any insight and do you have to remove the flare to do it? I have seen some reports of the tabs that hold the flares on breaking off upon removal.

Thanks for all the replies, guys. I really appreciate the help.

I talked to my local PPF guy today, and he said the damage is beyond repair. He said if he tried to buff them, they’d actually end up looking even more faded.

A local body shop quoted me $450 CAD to repaint both rear flares. My question is, has anyone here removed their TRD Pro fender flares before? Should I have the body shop remove them first and paint them, or just paint them while they’re still on the truck? I’ve heard the clips can break, so I’m a little confused what the best option is.

The $65 PPFBay film actually looks like a great idea, especially if it only needs to be replaced once a year. I’m also thinking about putting bigger mud flaps on just for the winter to help protect the flares.

I’m going to stop by my local Toyota dealer on Monday and see how much new rear flares cost. If they’re under $600 CAD, it might make more sense to just replace them and PPF them right away.

If anyone has any tips on removing the flares without breaking the clips, please let me know. Thanks again, guys. I’ll keep you posted on what I end up doing.

Remove the flares are pretty easy. I didn’t fully remove that but had to partially remove mine to install new fog lights. Plastic trim remove tools help if you worried about damaging clips.
