Anyone running an aftermarket or Toyota brand dashcam that they recommend? Want to set one up on my new rig that I’m picking up next week but unsure of what to get. TIA

You're going to receive numerous responses on people's opinions of dash cams, but if you want the best, watch Vortex Radars reviews on YouTube. TLDW - - Viofo A329 variants.

I just installed the front and rear channel A329 with a Dongar Pro, and they work beautifully!

i tend to run viofo top of the line at the time of new vehicle purchase 1 ch version.

i have yet one die on me, on my 2014 4R, 2016 taco, 2018 tundra, 2023 tundra

right now i run a viofo a329s 1 ch on the 4R (thinking later this summer i might add the rear channel since viofo lets you do that down the road)

think i have a a229 pro in the 23 tundra (its been a while since i bought it)

couldnt bring myself to get the top of the line blackvue series since i couldnt get around the cost of them and viofo had the same or better specs of the blackvue for about 100-200 less in cost.

I've used fitcamx in the rav4

in 4runner I have Viofo A119M Pro
everything about it is far better than fitcamx -except- fitcamx has the factory-looking housing

but -as a dashcam- connecting to it, doing periodic sd card maintenance
like formatting.... the great videos it produces in all conditions...Viofo blows away fitcamx

I’ve got the stock Toyota factory installed DashCam. Probably my least favorite feature of my ‘25. You have to disconnect from CarPlay to connect to it. The interface (for me) is awful. I’d recommend going aftermarket.

Have you used others?

Toyota's is clunky and awful, but ALL of them are pretty bad. The cameras create an ad-hoc wifi network, so you have to disconnect from everything to use them. Basically, you're going to have to disconnect from everything else in order to use their apps unless you're paying for cloud connection/storage for your dashcam.

Mine came with the Toyota camera, and I disliked it enough to yank it out and replace it with a Viofo.
