I’m in Canada so the options may be different. It’s kind of a 50 / 50 right now. For and against.

Thanks.

I paid for 180,000 km warranty, i drive an ORP Hybrid. This is my first Hybrid and it is Toyotas first hybrid 4runner, i want to make sure im covered for the next 7-8 years.

Iv had several Toyotas in the past, all went past 160,000 km with never an issue, i am suspecting the Gen 6 will be no different, but i just wanted to make sure as it was the first Gen hybrid they put out.

going thru one of the few sellers (on a thread in this forum) that you can get a toyota vsa legitimately, the cost for a 10/125 shouldnt exceed roughly $2200-2300 and the cost goes down from that point for lower thresholds.

i know i payed $1800 for my 10/100 since the price went up in sept-2025 from the $1500 it was before the price bump (and the last price bump was like 7 yrs ago before that)

i was sad to read one poster in this thread paying $4500 for his when it should have been about $2000-2500 less for a toyota vsa (unless he was offered a 3rd party warranty plan)

No problem. For me, I am going to wait until I get closer to the 36k mark and decide. Getting it right away is "easier", but with interest rates as they are I didn't want that in my loan. Also, you immediately negate the factory warranty so I always feel a little shafted by that part of it.

the toyota vsa doesnt kick in until after the 3/36 warranty (but toyta does the timeframe weird on extended vsa's)

ie: if your vsa is 10/125 it only starts after the factory 3/36, so effectively its duration is cut short by the factory warranty.

it effectively becomes a 7/89 warranty since its 10/125 - 3/36

the timeline start from the official in-service date (typically the date is was sold) and the mileage at the time of the in-service date

so my in-service date on the 23 tundra was 2-22-2023 so the vsa is valid until 2-22-2033 and a max mileage of 100k miles ( bought the toyota vsa 11-21-2025 about 2 months before the 3/36 mark)

and the price of the toyota vsa doesnt change if you buy it at time of vehicle sale or just before your 3/36 mark.

$4500? That's a "steal". In late December, my finance monger started at $8527 for 10/100, then offered a special "military discount" down to $4298. Bought elsewhere for $1660.
