Disable School Zone Alert? (14" display screen)

Has anyone discovered a way to turn off the school zone alerts on the 14 inch screen?

I purchased an TRD ORP HYBRID.

Unfortunately, I pass through six school zones on my way to work and again on my way home, and every single time I do, I get a big yellow flashing bar across my screen.

It’s not a huge deal, but it’s generally just annoying to keep seeing over and over. Has anybody discovered a way to turn that annoying thing off?

According to the 10 second google search I just did...

To disable the 2025 4Runner's school zone alert, press the Menu button on the home screen, select Setup, then Navigation, and finally Detailed Navigation Settings. Scroll down to Driver Support Information and find the School Zone option to turn it off.

Step-by-step instructions:

1. Start: your vehicle's ignition.
2. From the home screen, tap the Menu button.
3. Select Setup from the options on the left side of the screen.
4. Navigate to Navigation.
5. Choose Detailed Navigation Settings.
6. Scroll down to find Driver Support Information.
7. Select the School Zone option and toggle it to the Off position.

This should disable the school zone warnings, allowing you to drive without the audio alerts.

I love sarcasm… I did the same 10 second google search and got the same 10 second answer. Good thing the internet is always right. LOL.

Those options aren’t actually part of the software. They were from the 2024 and older. Google is wrong.

A 27 second google search turned nothing up either. So I turned to the experts here at 4R6g.

I think the school sign identification is part of the same system that displays the speed limit sign too.

I had not thought about turning off RSA because there was not an option for school zones, and because all of those alerts typically show up on the instrument cluster.

The school zone alert shows up on the 14” infotainment screen, and is a bright yellow banner that covers the entire top of the screen from left to right for about four seconds. I guess I can give that a try in the morning and see what happens. Thanks for the thought.

I've come to the same conclusion as you OP, can't turn it off yet. "School zone" and "heavy braking ahead" pop up for me and they're both annoying since I don't want anything to do with the lame built in Toyota nav features. All the internet references don't apply to the 2025.

I can't speak to Android auto, but I only use CarPlay. These notifications are coming from the Toyota nav and take over part of the screen over CarPlay when in Google Maps, Spotify, whatever. I don't touch the Toyota nav, so it must be loading data in the background. I've disabled every possible alert setting linked to the Toyota nav without luck.

Nope. The school zone warning absolutely appears for me using android auto and google maps. Hasn't really bothered me that much. And does not appear for me on neighborhood roads near home (I live very close to an elementary and high school), but does appear whenever I'm on a state road going at or slightly above the speed limit.

Well, after testing, I can definitively say that turning off RSA does not fix the issue.

I also have the same result as other users who say it happens whether using CarPlay or android auto.

So far I’ve not been able to find any way to shut this off so if anybody finds a definitive method, I would love to hear it

I don't really mind the pop up, but it also speaks to me "Braking ahead"... yet there's usually no traffic with braking happening. Go figure.

coincidentally I’ve never had any alert about breaking ahead. And mine does not speak to me. It’s just a yellow banner.

I wonder if Toyota randomly tests different software features and some of us have different features than others.

It’s possible. I’ll double check all the menu options again, but almost positive I’ve disabled everything Toyota nav related.

That is so odd. I wonder why it doesnt show for me? I drive through a school zone every single time I leave my house to go anywhere. I have one within 2 blocks in both directions. I have never seen the notice.
