Has anyone installed a differential breather yet? Curious on where poeple have been mounting theirs. I was looking to get the ARB differential breather and trying to see where would be a good place to mount it on the hybrid

if its anything like the last gen taco/4R, the engine one is mounted somewhere high in the engine bay with a rubber tube ending somewhere in the engine bay. the rear vent is located usually on top of the pumpkin.

why they only did the front diff extension tube is beyond me. could have done the rear also.

not sure about the center diff for those that have torsen center diff like the limited/platinum

It's a simple yet ingenious little device, it's very similar to a pressure relief valve. The way it's designed is that it's naturally closed and sealed but when pressure builds up in the diff it forces it open to let the pressure out. Even if it opens when exposed to water the gases being vented out prevent anything from going in, like the exhaust submerged in water with the engine running. The downside isn't that it's prone to letting water in, it's the opposite. When it gets old it may not open due to built up dirt and corrosion.

when you submerge a hot differential in cold muddy water the breather will
suck dirty water into the diff which is why people extend and elevate them

...and if the breather does block water ingress, it will come in thru the axle seals
