Hello,
does anyone know if there is a real difference between the design of the hybrid versus The non-hybrid Transfer Case skid plate? OE part number is 228-35 247 for the hybrid and 35248 for the non hybrid.
They both look exactly the same? Thanks in advance

Dam. They do look like exactly the same image on the toyota dealer sites. Only difference is that the 35247 says: "Exact fit for your 2025 4RUNNER HYBRID" and the 35248 says: "May not fit your 2025 4RUNNER HYBRID".
What I can say is that the landcruiser version (which also looks exactly the same) has yet another number (228-35241) and fit my TRD ORP hybrid. AND the trailhunter instruction sheet has "HV" next to the part number Trailhunter skid plate install guide.
I know that there is more going on in that area the skid covers on my hybrid than the non hybrid. Found this great video of the undercarriage of a TRD Sport non-hybrid to see the difference (I have photos of mine but nothing that clearly shows the whole area underneath.) non-hybrid undercarriage vid. I can't tell if the mounting locations or some clearance point would be different but not sure why they would have different PNs if not. Good luck and hope maybe something I linked is helpful. I'm curious what the final answer is.

I don't want the complete pan, I'm just looking for the short Transfer Case skid plate.
I called the dealer today and spoke with service department they had no clue, spoke with the parts department and he said if Toyota made a specific part number for it it means that there's something that is different between the hybrid and the gas version.

Not something I'm pulling my hair out for, just like that post from the guy who commented about the Wheels and how everyone hates them:)

I think they're kind of cool and I think in 10 years they'll be looked at as hey this is a vintage OEM wheel! I do like the other versions of the TRD Wheels but this is what the cards dealt me so form follows function. I would rather put my money into a suspension upgrade for a level lift. But a transfer case skid plate is something I think that would be very useful for the small curb size Rocks.

I asked my dealer which I needed. When they put in my VIN it specified one only. Part number PT228-35247 was the one they specified for my ORP Hybrid and it fit perfectly (tip: if you also install the front skid plate, do the transfer case one first!!). I do suggest, though, having your dealer look up your VIN to verify.

I got to wondering about your question and so took a photo of my actual transfer case (on TRD ORP hybrid) which has its own little skid. I don't THINK that is what you are referring to but it does highlight that Toyota refers to the "transmission/transfer case" skid plate both ways. Here are the two part numbers you referenced in OP from one vendor with the different names -and very similar but slightly different photos:>): Elmhurst PT228-35248; Elmhurst PT228-35247

I have no idea if your SR5 has this transfer case mini skid but I've seen it on TRD PRO and my ORP (see photos below)- and from this video of TRD Sport non-hybrid it seems like that mini-skid is missing 4Runner underneath- hence me wondering if that is what you are actually looking for, given the naming confusion from Toyota on the skid that fits between 2nd and 3rd frame cross bars - which is what you see in the bottom left of first photo below. )

Yes thanks for the images,
I do see the hybrid does have a difference in the step down in the transfer case plate.

Looks like in the photo the hybrid version has two significant step down areas, and the non hybrid has a very shallow step down with just one significant.

My orp comes with a front skid plate made out of some type of poly plastic, but there is no transmission plate.

I do have a small metal skid plate over the electronics area of the tail end of the transfer case near the drive shaft.

Thanks for your efforts I will probably just go with the part number ending in 248 which is the
non hybrid.

Maybe at some point I will add a real front skid plate.

But for now knowing my off-road prowess seems to avoid rocks but sometimes they can reverberate up from your tire with lasting impact results when you have an exposed transmission.

I'm not a rock crawler so I am building my truck as needed with upgrades that follow functionality not form.

I have a recovery bag with a 3 inch tow strap, two soft shackles, 2 hard 3/4-in shackles. Just hope if I should get in a ditch someone will come along with a winch; I am planning on purchasing a hand-powered "Comealong" with a high tonnage rating.
Happy trails!
