2020 4Runner SR5
Saw this update by CBI Offroad on their SR5 6th gen build:
Just finished a HUGE change on our 2025 SR5 4Runner and I’ve got to say… I’m blown away.
We started this truck pretty OEM+ — CBI Super Stock Covert bumper, aluminum skids, rock sliders, full Prinsu Pro rack, Peak Suspension 2.5 DSC shocks, and 35x12.50s. Super clean and really capable.
Now it’s a whole different animal. We put 74Weld portal axles on all four corners, bumped up to 37x13.50R17 Toyo RT Pros, and wrapped them on Black Rhino Fuji wheels (+38 offset, which is wild, and it’s still this wide 🤯). Running SR5 flares for now, but I’ve got TRD Pro flares ready to throw on to dial the stance.
The stance and look in person is unreal. It feels so much bigger and meaner. The gear reduction paired with the 37s surprised me—in town it actually drives better than I expected. Haven’t had it on the freeway or trail yet, but ground clearance alone feels like a total game changer for off-road.
We’ve got a lot to learn with this setup, but so far, I’m loving it.

What lb spring did you need to run on the peak suspension coil overs to support the difference in bumper weight? Did you go from 500 to 600 or did you leave it at 500? I’m hearing the combination of lower engine weight and corrected geometry on these 6th gen means you no longer need heavier springs to prevent sag. And finding the answer to this has been next to impossible for me. Maybe because everyone is still figuring that out themselves.

This makes me so giddy. I just put my deposit on 74weld portals. Cannot wait to build my 4Runner! I’ll see you guys at the off road expo next weekend. I want to see this truck in person.

Did 74weld give an estimate on when your portals would be available? What other mods you going to pair with the portals? Post up your build once those portals are on!

He said they are as little as only two weeks out. But I don’t need them that soon because I am still waiting on my King coilovers to arrive and a few other things. I have a deposit on a front bumper that hasn’t even been released yet but I trust Dissent Off road. For now I’m watching CBI and Brennan from Trail4r so I can learn from their trial and error before I install
