They just started advertising on this forum & asking for feedback. From the look of it, it's just like any other generic mount-over-factory-mirror one on Amazon. Although, there is a version with Starvis 2 Sony sensor, which is the gold standard for dash cam with high quality, sharp & good low light performance footage.

Are you asking because of that post?

I think it's a mistake to just call every dash camera "generic" and say they're so because they utilize a "Sony STARVIS 2" image sensor.

Sony manufactures numerous image sensors under the STARVIS 2 technology designation, and dash-camera manufacturers can implement the same sensor with substantially different results.

There are two separate considerations:

1. Which Sony STARVIS 2 sensor is installed? Different sensors have different resolutions, pixel sizes, light sensitivities, readout capabilities, and operating modes.

2. How much of that sensor's capability does the dash-camera manufacturer actually utilize? That depends on the image processor, firmware, recording configuration, thermal limitations, and other components.

Simply advertising STARVIS 2 tells us practically nothing about the camera's actual recording performance, and only that they picked a very good and current image sensor. Actually compare features and specifications or don't, but don't believe they're generic or perform identically because they use "STARVIS 2" image sensors.

typically for dashcam's you want a starvis 2 setup (starvis 3 was announced a while back but no press release on when its coming to dashcams)

you are looking for ...

IMX678 sensor (4k@60fps) with novatek chipset and a F1.8 aperture

or the IMX675 (lower resolution 2k@30fps)
