Finally found a set of Bilstein 6112 for the front and 6110 for the rear over at SoHi Performance. Having run a similar setup on my old 5th Gen, I’ve been searching "moding" sites like a kid at Christmas waiting for these to finally drop for the 6th Gen.

The install was actually pretty straightforward—mostly because I’ve spent enough time under 4Runners to do this in my sleep. The front is definitely easier than the 5th Gen. Disconnected the steering arm, pulled the factory shock, and did the "compress and swap" routine for the top hat.

I did have to get a little "creative" with the re-installation, though. If you ever find yourself lacking leverage, turns out a jack from a Toyota Corolla (don't tell my wife) fits perfectly between the frame and the lower arm to give you that extra clearance you need.

The rear, however, was a different story. I attempted to install a 1.5-inch puck on the coils, and after about an hour of sweating, swearing at inanimate objects, and questioning my life choices, the puck won. I gave up.

Right now, she’s sitting at a clean 38 inches all around. Based on my previous experience, those front coils should settle about 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch lower, which is the exact stance I’m looking for.

I might look into Bilstein B8s and a bit more lift in the future so I can move to that 4th clip, but that’s a "future me" problem (and a "buying new UCAs" problem). For now, the factory wheels (+55 offset) and 33-inch BFG KO3s are more than enough for the mountain trips we take a few times a year.

Thanks for the feedback on the install! How's the ride quality improvement you're feeling compared to stock SR5 suspension?

I just did the install yesterday, but feel more cushiony on road and less rigid off road, compared with stock. Had the same setup in the 5th gen and really performed well off road on rocky trails, hopefully they’re the same recipe.

What were the problems with the 1.5-inch puck on the rear coils ?

edit: I will add that we added Peak Suspension 1" rear spring spacers.

Install was easy peasy...

Here’s what I did to get my rear pucks in. Jack up rear end under the diff with a floor jack (badlands off-road from Harbor Freight). Pull the rear wheel from the one side. Slowly lower the jack. This causes some serious suspension droop on the side missing the wheel. Put a jack stand in place for safety. Use a spring compressor on the rear spring from the side you removed the wheel from. Slip in puck. Remove compressor. Jack diff back up. Reinstall wheel. Repeat on other side.

@TheMachine this is exactly the thread that I’ve been hoping to find, SR5 just received my 6112/6100 combo, going to also use stock 17 inch alloys I actually really like them.

From your post I gathered that you used circlip position 3 on the 6112s? And stock ride height in the rear just 6100s and no puck? Just trying to get a better idea of your set up and numbers so I can better think about my current/upcoming build.

What size tires are you running? Thx for posting your build!

Thank you for this. I'm waiting to save some more $$$ and get UCA's so I can lift another inch and then I'll add longer coils in the back. I had pucks before and ended up with longer coils on my 5th Gen.

Initially I've went with the 4 clip, but when I got in trouble with the rear pucks, then re-did the front on the second clip with no rear lift. That gave me 2 inch of lift(should have been 1.7 according to Bilstein) and I'm expecting to drop another 1/4 or 3/8 after a few days. It did drop 3/8's on my 5th Gen, but I had a winch bumper and winch in the front so that's that.
The tires are BFG KO3's second gen 285/70R17 C load on stock wheels +55 offset.

Did you disconnect the sway bar end links on the opposite side this will allow for the rear to sit a bit lower

Yep. My mistake was that I've removed both wheels, instead of using one side as leverage, but that's all good for now. Going with the proper longer coils next, instead of pucks.
