Backup camera blocked - how to protect from cover our backup camera from water and dirt?

Does anyone have a solution how to cover our backup camera from water and dirt during and after horrid weather?

I dont depend on my camera and the guide lines when reverse parking. Im still old school and use my side mirrors ans fisheye mirror to park myself haha.

I do not know if it is true for all trims. But if I run my rear window washer. It washes the camera. A lot better than my 2015 Silverado. Where I have the habit of swapping my finger over the camera every morning. I live in Portland Oregon where it rains all the time

Not really a 'fix' but I put a dab of Rain-X on mine then buffed it with a microfiber cloth. Seems like it at least helps keep it cleaner for longer.

Whenever it rains I just run my finger across it before getting in.

It’s not on all trims. I also have it. But I don’t remember what trims don’t have that.

Limited has it. I’ve used it and it worked very well. However, the obstructing material (road spray from driving in the rain) was still wet. Still, it did the trick.

all trims have rear camera washer
-some trims are activated only when in reverse and pushing rear wiper washer
-some other trims also have an icon to push on the headunit too
-but all 2025 4runners have it

All models also feature the Toyota Star Safety system, eight airbags, the Blind Spot Monitor System with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, backup camera with back guide monitor and rear camera washer, tire pressure monitoring system with auto location, and anti-theft alarm system with engine immobilizer.

I used the washer on dried on dirt. Two notices appeared on Media Screen when I began reversing. One was a yellow camera icon at rear of vehicle on the overhead view and on the left top rear facing view, text indicating the camera view was obstructed. It was then that I activated the washer and as I was in reverse I could watch the fluid clean the screen without any problem.
very useful feature for sure.
