I believe you. Cresting a steep ridge not knowing which way the trail goes gets 'interesting'!
But seeing I only need that functionality a few times a year - maybe a $25 solution will be enough.
We'll see - if it is cr@p I will be sure to let people know!
The one you linked above is wifi only right? It doesn't have Bluetooth? Seems like you would always need wifi hot spot accessibility to make it work... I think reverse cameras that have Bluetooth connectivity are sold...

I'll find out soon enough if I need to make my phone a hotspot! I am taking one for the team here ;)

Well the experiment is over. It showed up today and to use it you need to register an account with them INCLUDING GIVING THEM A CREDIT CARD NUMBER!!!! Which they said they will hold but not charge!

Go take a flying flambed forklift. Getting a refund from Amazon.

I just got a DJi Osmos Action 4 - now on sale for $209 (was $300).
Works perfectly as a trail camera, uses your phone screen as a monitor
No wiring needed, connects via bluetooth. Comes w a sticky mount that you can attach the the front of your vehicle. Super easy, simple, and honestly cheap.

Do you place it externally in the bumper somewhere? It looks a bit bulky. It isn't easy for someone to steal?

Why didn’t I think of that? A magnetic mount could work as well.

I used the standard adhesive backed supplied mount to attach it next to the license plate on my ride. it feels very solid - which makes sense given the use case scenarios for this camera!
I don't think it is bulky given it fits in the palm of my hand, and when you remove it the mount is not very noticeable.
Is it easy to steal? Yes, as it is very easy to attach and detach. But that is a bonus for my intended use - all I want to do is use it as a trail camera, so attach it at the beginning of a trail. When I leave the trail I will remove it. I do not need it for daily driving. Another bonus is this an actual camera so you can use it as such off the vehicle!
The bummer is the app does not work with carplay - if it did you could just use the car's infotainment screen. But neither does GoPros'. Something to do with safety/focusing on driving blah blah blah... ;)

The bottom line is if your car does not have a trail camera,, and you want one, this is a super easy, simple and cheap solution. Personally the only thing the Off Road Premium vs regular has that I want is the trail camera. To me that is not worth the $6000 extra! This gives you that functionality for $200.
And unlike wolfboxes etc, no wiring is involved. No extra screens as you use your phone. And much cheaper.

Yep. I just used the sticky mouunt because it came with it! The thing to do is place it on the front of the vehicle if you want to use it as a trail camera, so it has maximum vision of what is ahead so you can actually see where the trail goes as you crest a steep climb.
