I just added a CD player to my 2025 SR5, wanted to share in case anyone is interested in old tech. It is plug and play and works real well. Both 8" display shelf and Posspo Jupiter sourced on Ebay. Shelf needed a little trimming.

Thats cool. I wonder if I could mount it in the shelf above the glove box. So this device plugs into the USB on the side of the screen?

Bro, I'm also old schooled and have a ton of CD's and Blu-Ray DVD live concerts. Would you know if they sell a combo player that plays Blu-ray disc? Thanks for this post!

I don't know how to play DVDs, you probably need a separate screen.

Man I remember when a 50 pack spindle or blank cds cost 50 bucks. Those were the money making days at high school

I'll venture to say picking a physical cd and loading in a player
is a better experience than sitting on a pc and friggin with
ripping cd's and making a folder structure that the 4runner
headunit will understand, just so you can fiddle-fart with the
damn touchscreen to find your tunes. cd's way better imho
...
but I also recommend they should be ripped to digital format eventually as the cd's will
start to lose data integrity as they age

Exactly. CD will get scratched and become unreadable. Also, it's susceptible to skip and error when going over unpaved road, trails, etc. Do you have a way to organize them in the car? It's a safety hazard when trying to flip through CD album, or putting it back in, taking your eyes off the road. A USB flash drive is a much better option. There are countless software that can automate all the burning, folder creation with album art.

Whatever you're doing is like bringing sand to the beach. Why not work smarter, not harder?

Lol I dont understand why people are shting on the idea of a cd player. CDs are great. People own them and they are easy to use. Taking your eyes off the road? That is a stretch compared to all the spotify/ touchscreen searching people do already. Listening to CDs the op already owns is obviously easier and better than spending time ripping cds. To me that seems like working smarter not harder.

I wish I had a cd player and a tape deck in my 4runner haha.

What century are you living in? You push a button on your steering wheel and ask spotify to play exactly what you want...no other hands and searching involved. 58 years old and
know that much.
