Looks broken to me. Not supposed to be able switch between 2H/4H/4L without pressing the button the left side of the dial.

Our previous 2020 Ford Ranger selector was free-wheeling. Had to check often to verify I hadn't hit it by mistake.

Was pleased that our 2026 ORP has an interlock button preventing accidental turns.

Your interlock mechanism appears to be broke.

Im mildly upset because the dealership said it couldn’t be fixed yet. I’m gonna try again later and see if they will order the part I found and try to get it fixed.

I didn’t think this was a thing until pulling into a parking spot last week when I thought I was losing power only to realize what I was feeling was binding. Looked at the dash and sure enough I was in 4H. Checked my dial and it required me to push the button (albeit not very hard or far) so not sure how it happened.
