Just buy it! You will not regret it. I'm extremely happy with my SR5.

I too watched all the ridiculous YouTube videos. They said it's junk, trash, garbage, etc. They said Toyota was done for and going out of business. It's all just a bunch of click-bait nonsense.

The Tacoma (essentially same truck) had it's best sales year ever! It outsold the next competitor (Colorado) 3 to 1. I predict by the middle to end of the 2026 model year, no one will be talking about the 5th gens anymore.

My only criticism of Toyota, was not rolling out 6th gen fast enough. The "QC Hold" screwed everything up. It kept supply way too low, so the dealers marked up the prices, which caused the 5th gens to reach insane prices on the used market.

The new 4R is way better in everyway. I am confident history will show they were excellent trucks. It's just had a rocky start.

BTW: I never had the brake squeal. I live in NY. I heard it's only been happing in the South. My truck was QC Held so who knows if they changed the brakes. I wish you the best with your future purchase.

I had a 2011 Nissan Armada for almost 12 years. I wanted to replace it because I wanted to downsize a little. We looked at A LOT of makes/models and I decided on a 4Runner, we had a 2004 4Runner years ago and loved it. I looked at the 2024 and it didn't have all the features I wanted, specifically heated seats, large screen infotainment system, heated steering wheel.... all the bells and whistles. I wanted to splurge on myself so went with the 2025 4Runner. My husband and I did the research and decided even with it being the first year on the new design, we'd go for it.

Drove Tacomas (TRD OFF-ROAD mostly always 4x4 which was hardly ever used) for past 30+ years. Demo’s 20+ of those and after retirement owned 3 (‘23 Limited last ) till now buying ‘25 Limited 4Runner. Guys i drove the best truck ever made but just got tired of driving pickups period at 77.

At time to trade had the ‘23 Limited Taco with 15k miles and wife’s ‘23 4Runner TRD ORP with 63k miles.
Traded the Taco and kept the 4Runner for me as second vehicle (not the smartest trade for 90% of the group).
My thinking all the road miles will now go on the ‘25 Limited and 63k on a gen 5 is nothing especially for a second unit that will not get 5000 miles a year. Also so much more comfort and most items can go in the back. If not in the back $14 rents a trailer at a big box store with a larger area than my short bed Tacos ever had.

After 45 years with Toyota (started 1968) i am not worried about FIRST YEAR anything on a Toyota.

My why: F-150 got rear-ended, totaled. I wanted to try Toyota quality and I needed a car ASAP. Rav4 is too small for my needs. Did not want a Highlander. I prefer trucks. I live in the great US West and wanted something that can handle any road conditions and some off road. I needed something that could comfortably take my two 85 pound dogs and my wife on road trips and camping. I had to get a cargo box since the dogs take the entire cargo area.

4Runners are hard to get without a wait and the ORP Premium iForce Max was the only one available locally immediately, so I got it, and probably paid about $1800 more because.

Conventional wisdom has often been to skip year one of a new refresh of a vehicle. For everyone who has decided to go against this to purchase a 2025 year model of the new 4Runner, what made you decide to go against that prevailing wisdom? Have you run into any strange first gen issues? Has there been anything that has caused you to regret taking the plunge?

I am currently in the market now for one and was close to pulling the trigger on the purchase, but the brake squeal issue, and Toyota’s seeming inability to find a lasting fix for the problem, has given me some pause.
First, we really needed to cut ties with a Wrangler Unlimited that had plagued us with braking issues and powerband issues. Secondly, we both were comfortable enough with it being a year-one model as it has so many similarities to the 2024 Tacoma. Enough that it felt like a soft second year release.

I had a 2nd gen 4 Runner bought it brand new and really liked it. We had three children, and they couldn’t all fit in the back seat. Well, the kids are grown now so we’re trying it again. I love the refresh and more power. I really can’t complain. We had a suburban. I had over 500,000 miles on it when I sold it so we got our money out of it..
