I've had my 2026 4Runner TRD Pro for a week now and I gotta say I absolutely love it!
Little background, this is my first 4Runner and I'm not an off-roader. This is my first SUV in about 15 years. Started with a 2004 Xterra, then a 2009 Camry, followed by a 2019 Rav4. When I bought the Rav4 I test drove a 2019 4Runner but after driving a Camry for 5 years it felt too "truckish". The Rav4 is a great car, very nice ride and I never had a single issue in the 7 years I drove it. I've been eyeballing the 6th Gen 4 Runners since they were released. Fast forward to a month ago when I finished paying off the Rav4 and decided it was time for an upgrade.
I'm sure some are gonna ask why I got a TRD Pro if I'm not going to use it for what it was built for.
Why the f not. I just wanted a bad ass SUV.
I was pleasantly surprised with how smooth the ride was in the 6th, honestly it doesn't seem that much different than the Rav4. Certainly feels a whole lot different than the 5th Gen I drove. The speed and acceleration is great.
I had read some of the reviews and complaints about the 6th Gen like the hood vibration. Yeah it's there but I only notice it if I'm looking directly at it. I haven't noticed any vibration or rattles in the interior.
I only have two complaints: 1) I wish all the options for the gauge cluster settings was available on both the left and right meters. For some reason the compass is not available on the right side and the trip details is not available on the left side. Just wish I could swap them. 2) Having trouble adapting to the CarPlay stuff. I liked the screen in the Rav4 layout and I can't replicate it in CarPlay.
That's it, those are my only issues.
I'm not intending on any modifications other than changing the headlights and fog lights to Alpha Rex and adding raptor lights to the grille. Otherwise it's perfect.
