The order banks meaning what the dealers (and distributors) use. While you cannot order a vehicle directly from toyota, the dealer can potentially help you identify a build sufficiently upstream to avoid a bunch of unwanted distributor accessory add ons. With minimal MY changes expected, I just want to check colors and wheels mainly ahead of a MY 27 purchase.
Exactly. These people are either old and or just don’t understand the process.
There are actually more than 300 different factory configurations for 4runner currently (trim, color, interior, engine, drive train, other). The dealer and distributor orders help them identify the most popular combinations. While individuals cannot order their exact vehicle with a vin number, the American consumer ultimately does dictate what is built based on what they want and buy.
Exactly. Again let say it over and over again. You can not just walk into a dealer and order what you want. Now PIO and DIO are not parts of the manufacture process.

If that is the case than are you telling me most American only can afford SR5 but they can just walk into the dealer and asking for that SR5 equipped with Trail Hunter or PRO products? Good luck. You have a better chance to see the pope at the Vatican for dinner.

If I understand it correctly that order sheet is just a way to narrow down which vehicles that are in the build phase might meet the customer's requirements. Toyota may use the data to modify future packages. Say a million people request the same items then Toyota may say "let's build them to this spec because it looks popular". Of course they will add a few extras in that may not be as popular to make a little extra money. But they will not build one to exactly what you want.

Since you were in Japan and have seen the factory, do you know if the Japanese living there can order one to their specs?

It's now a month and a half later and when you do a search for a Pro the newest ones listed on the visor.vin website that are in 'pre production' have an expected delivery date between mid December and mid January yet are still being called 2026 models. One local dealer had a Pro in the color I wanted in pre production back in July/ August yet it disappeared. It just got listed today. I can't say it's the same one as I didn't pay attention to the VIN number. But the one they just listed has a "T" meaning it's designated as a 2026. This could be a sign that Toyota is going to fill all of the commitments for 2026 before switching to the letter "U" for 2027.

They definitely appear to be squeezing everything they can out of MY26. I would be happy with a build and price so we can at least see the minimal MY27 changes reflected. Not sure if it is strategic or just the web group not ready to publish.

It actually starts next month, November 2026...

Pricing was sent to dealers today...
production does but they still wont make it to usa shores until december (its roughly 15-16 days transit time from japan via RORO, my 25 took 16 days, my 26 took 15 days), then roughly 1-3 weeks for port processing (depends on how little or how much PIO are added) then roughly 1-2 weeks for rail transport (depending on how far away the dealer regional rail head is from portland or newark (i cant speak for SET since they dont follow toyota usa rules and it arrives at jaxport), then 2-3 days to 3 weeks for transport via semi to the dealer (they dont run a tranport until its cost effective to, they wont just transport 1 vehicle to a dealer, usually they wait for a minimum of 4-5 vehicles on a 7-10 vehicle transport, 10 if you do sedans, they take up less space so you can cram more on, 7 if you run BoF vehicles)

GST 4runners usually arrive at portland but have been know to arrive in texas port, but that adds around 1-2 weeks ship transit time since it has to go thru the panama canal to get to the gulf or to jaxport or newark.

so by the time a 27 arrives at a dealer its usually early late december or early january (east coast, east of the Mississippi).

@ryanwgregg good to see you out and about on the forums, i left the tundras.com forum since we got rid of our 23

sad to see it go, had 22k miles and 3yrs of no issues with it but the wife was tired of parking outside in our brutal winters since 2018 tundra.

she is happy with the new 4R and parking in the garage again. not having to worry about 4wd toggle on the tundra since she had FT4WD now is a bonus for her
