2025 4runner 6th gen 2025 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Ice Cap Build /// Everyday Fred 2025 Toyota 4Runner SR5 - 4x5

Year: 2025
Color: Ice Cap White
Trim: SR5 (Base 4x4)
Options: Third Row Seats

Just purchased a brand new 6th Gen 4Runner SR5 and thought this would be a great opportunity to start my first build thread. This is not going to be a quick build, so don't expect anything crazy overnight but I will try to document the entire build process.

How Much Did I Pay?
I know a lot of people want to know the total price paid, so I made a video breaking down every line item on the window sticker and what I ended up paying for this 2025 Toyota 4Runner w/ third row seats.

MODIFICATION LIST:

  • Exterior Mods:
    • <Coming Soon>

Lots of mods planned, just to need to find time to put them on.

Hey fred, I have to admire your transparency. Because I feel like I have gone down the same rabbit hole that you have a few times doing business with different dealerships. My last year experience with AutoNation Mercedes House of Imports in Buena Park California I purchased a new GLC 300. It was my retirement present. I did a trade in as well with a Subaru that had a pretty significantly bashed in rear from a rear end collision that was repaired well but being a moderate damage you take a significant hit in your trade in value.

That being said the Subaru ran perfectly fine and it was owned outright.

Within 200 miles of the new Mercedes I started getting electrical issues that left me stranded. After the 4th and 5th time at the dealership for repair I reached out to corporate Mercedes and requested a lemon buy back or there would be a lemon law in place. They said they would buy it back and 3 months later I got my complete outlay of cash.

Now fast forward I picked up a RAV4 Limited hybrid in the meantime while the Mercedes was parked, and have since sold that to my girlfriend for another significant loss. It appears that no matter what you do with the car world you will always take a loss, if not with a trade-in but as a depreciated value. 4Runners as well as any other car have a 5-year depreciated value and it is quite significant. That's all I will say there.

so recently just last month purchased a off-road premium, and did not go through AutoNation because of all the upsell items and I particularly did not want to have to do any negotiating like I did with the Mercedes.

So I went through Tustin Toyota and I pretty much was transparent with them and said I don't want any upsell items.
I will accept what is on the car from the manufacturer, which was a cross roof rail that I have already taken off, and a 33 month subscription to Sirius XM. SiriusXM is being used now so I figured pay now or pay later and I'm done.
After having ventilated seats and the 10.5-in screen on my Rav4 with the onboard navigation it was a must-have.
Just being able to talk to the info system and direct your commands through voice is such a nice feature. I am really used to saying hey Toyota turn my AC on, turn it down a degrees, turn to a certain channel or just take me to a certain place.
It responds perfectly for all of those features and I can actually see the screen.

The only part that I am not fond of with trd off-road premium is that it only comes in one interior color and that's this charcoal black, I don't mind the seats and the surroundings but the headliner should have a lighter color. It is like a black hole that you get into and at night time forget about dropping anything on the floor.!
I toyed with the SR5 as a purchase because of the lighter colored fabric and interior, which I prefer being in Southern California, and the best price that I was able to find was around 47k 4wd, with a few added items from the manufacturer. My 5th generation SR5 was around 44k plus tax and license . So I think the increase we're seeing are probably Justified .

I absolutely needed the ventilated seats and the infotainment system being bigger, so the trd off-road premium just checked all the boxes, so I just went with it and my price was around 58k and that's not including tax, license and all the other junk fees.

I try not to think about it much because it's the price you pay for being the first one to break the car in properly and nothing beats that crispy new feeling!
Congrats on your SR5.

Before we get into all the cool exterior mods, I need to make the interior as comfortable as possible. One of the first things I have to do when getting a new car is to find a very solid phone mount.
2025 4runner 6th gen 2025 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Ice Cap Build /// Everyday Fred Phone Mount Holder

Installation:
I spent a few weeks researching all the options but I think I finally came up with the perfect phone mount system for me. Made a full video about this including the very easy install process.

This is not a build update but just an update on my ownership after passing my 1,000 mile break-in period. Overall I’m still loving my new 4Runner but I have noticed a few things I don’t like.
