Called purchasing dealer about a VSA (Vehicle Service Agreement)...turns out I have one. I don't remember it being discussed.

I guess the lesson here is to pay attention to what you are signing which apparently I did not do.

I bought my 2025 TRD ORP in August of 2025, I really have no recollection of a VSA being discussed, nor a maintenance plan. I am not saying they weren't discussed, I just don't recall them being mentioned and I am pretty sure I would have declined them given the prices I apparently paid for them.


I am at 18k miles on this vehicle and started calling around about getting a VSA/extended warranty before I hit 36k, so my first call was to the dealer I purchased it from who looked up my information and said I already had one and paid over 5k for it.

To confirm this I went to the Toyota VSA site and put my VIN number in and apparently I have the following items.

I am fairly positive I never would have agreed to any of that and they snuck those in at the end.

Nothing to be done about it now, it is what it is but what exactly do I have here ? There are no plan codes associated with those, I have no documentation anywhere other than the bill of sale that lists them on the 2nd or 3rd page.

It's actually fraud for them to have stuffed those in the transaction without clear notification, even if you signed the papers. Some dealer finance offices record video of the "closing" to avoid any accusation of fraud, I suspect this dealer did not. The cost of your VSA seems high, I was offered the top level at about half that amount. You can always raise the concern with the dealership management, BBB, or even the state's attorney general office. Social media shaming often helps the most....

good question. I have no idea how I missed that. it was literally at the very bottom of the second page. I am not ruling out that it wasn't discussed, I just 100% don't recall it being discussed and am fairly certain I would not have agreed to pay 5k for it.

I can only surmise that I missed it because I was in need of a new vehicle and stressed about that, and worn down from dealing with the sales person and the people there that were trying to sell me insurance.

At the end of the day I have no way of proving fraud was involved.

They're predatory AF for sure. Dealerships, as a rule, are some of the most unethical assholes we tolerate as a society. And the government doesn't seem interested in any sort of consumer protection any more.

What bugs me is that when buying a new vehicle these contracts start. Not after the factory warranty starts or the 2 year 24k service that's included when buying new. The only one I bought then cancelled a day later the dealer made it sound like it was a 5 year 100k mile plan. Really, to me, it was a 2 year 64k mile plan because the factory warranty covered the first 3 years/36k.

There were a few extra perks thrown in but I expect the first 100k to be even free with a Toyota. Then they charge a premium. The dealer talked about all the sensors and electronics and how it was needed but I've never bought one. I figure if I did get one I would wait until the original warranty was up and I knew it might be needed. Otherwise I would rather wait until I hit 100k to decide.

call Toyota Financial and see what your prorated refund will be if you cancel it.

If you are gonna get 2 grand (hopefully 5 grand)or more back, CANCEL and get that refund

then just go to fd-warranty and get the same VSA for much much less. you have up to 36000 miles to get a VSA

Went through the same when I got mine. Told the sales person that I want NOTHING but Gap when I go to sign, let the finance guy know to save his time.

Of course he didnt, and kept pushing the warranty. I told him no, I would and could get it cheaper later. He chose to argue and kept pushing. I told him this was my final no, and one more push for the warranty and I would walk.

In hindsight, I shoudlve walked. I love my 4R, but I didnt want black but thats all that was available locally at several dealers. Impatience won

Oh man, Cedar Park Toyota finance office, all the forms are digital and the desk is a giant touchscreen for you to sign. Like 3-4 feet wide. They start getting pushy AF with the service and warranty stuff displayed big as Austin right there.

"Here are your four options sir:

There was no box for "no thanks". I had to ask three times before that motherf***** moved a clipboard off a second screen that had been hidden up to that point...It was only about 8x10" and very off-to-the-side of the GIANT main screen...That contained the opt out. And he was mad about me not bending over that fancy table for him to use no lube. Same song and dance for several thousand dollars worth of other bullsh*t in that office. I read everything and I'm good at saying no...Those people are relentless a$$holes, through and through.


They justify it to themselves enough to where they make you out to be the bad guy for saying no thanks.

And that's why I paid it off as soon as I got home instead of waiting the six months he was asking for. Bite me.

truth be told I did get suckered into PDR...I do often park under trees so figured
since trucky and yaris have dents from tree branches maybe PDR is a good idea.

No shenanigans for me, fortunately. We agreed on a vehicle, than an all inclusive price which only included the vehicle and a doc fee. Month and a half later on the day of delivery, I was asked once about GAP, a service plan and warranty and I declined all. I brought a cash down payment and a check from my credit union for the rest and was out of there in about 30 minutes. I handled the sales tax and registration myself. I will buy a warranty next year some time once I confirm my annual mileage.

For what it’s worth, I just sold my 2025 Pro that I purchased in April of last year. It had almost 18,000 miles on it and I received 81.2% of my extended warranty back as a refund.

I would definitely call Toyota financial, get transferred to that department and you will be able to get a lot of that back. I’m not sure about the other things that were jammed in there on you, but it’s worth checking out.
