Also, I paid cash, and dealers don't like that.
People always say this but I've never seen any dealer not like a cash sale.

I just bought my ORP with cash.
Told the dealer what stock number I wanted, agreed on a price, showed up the next day with a check, drove it home.

No hassles, no issues, no trying to push me into financing.

That's very similar to what I paid for my 2025 Sport Premium about 6 weeks ago

Dealers hate CASH. Dealers make more money when you finance because they get kickbacks from the bank. Why accept cash when you can make more money?

Out the door price is critical to negotiating at the dealer…. Maybe not critical to compare from location to location when including tax, fees, and license but it puts you in the best possible position to negotiate. That’s why many dealers don’t want to talk out the door price and prefer to talk financing and monthly payments.

I also didn't get any push to finance. I think the dealers make less money when you don't finance with them, so cash sales make them less flexible on sale price? It's not like I buy cars a lot, so I don't know, just what I've read and heard.

I tried purchasing a full MSRP Trailhunter from Peterson Toyota in Boise ID. They said they would not sell it to me unless I financed with them and kept the loan for at least three payments.

Wasn't looking to finance, hate those type of shenanigans, so I ended it there.

That’s insane. Local dealer has a Trailhunter that’s been sitting for a couple months at $2k off.

Is that Beaverton Toyota by any chance? They wouldn't let me put a deposit down on a 4Runner unless I was willing to come in to the dealership and do it in person.

So many dealerships are doing what they can to make it more difficult to purchase their vehicles.

Good thing about Toyotas is they last a long time so I don't have to go through this pain so often!
