Hey everyone,

We’re in the final stretch of releasing our MASS+ Cargo Management System for the 6th Gen 4Runner (non-hybrid) and wanted to get your input on something important.

When it comes to installation instructions, would you prefer:
  1. A detailed installation video, or
  2. A traditional step-by-step PDF guide with photos and written directions?
We know each format has its advantages. Videos make it easier to follow along, while PDFs can be handy to print or reference quickly during the install. Before we wrap up development, we’d like to make sure we’re creating what’s most useful for you.

What’s your preference?

If video is annotated for each specific section to jump to, video.
If video is not broken down by sections... PDF

PDF to print and take outside while installing.
YouTube demonstration video for any difficult parts or hard to see photos.

I would like access to both. I had a bad experience with a drawer system install for my 4R and all that was provided was a terrible quality video where the parts in the video looked nothing like the actual parts. In that case I'd rather have the step by step pdf. For a video that is of the actual installation of the same product for the same vehicle I would choose to use that option.

I would prefer both but if there is only one option a detailed installation video would be great.

Simple answer….. Both.
Ultimately that's the goal, but I'm more just looking for an immediate solution. It's considerably more time consuming to build the PDF, than simply having our media guy film the install.

We can easily section the video in "steps" if need be. It'll be a pretty easy install, but there are a few things to mention along the way.

Video I think is best... maybe run it through an AI tool to see if it produces good directions as well.

I like that. We'll be filming an install video as soon as I get the rails for our 6th gen back from powder coating. PDF instructions will come later.

i prefer both. i like the read thru the install instructions first to get an idea and then use the video as a backup in case i dont understand the pdf.

perfect example was the bullet point tundra dash mount for the top tray. wasnt quite sure on the pdf instructions but watching the video and seeing the details of the pdf exactly cleared up the process of drilling the holes and screwing down the mount screws.

just make dam sure you dont gloss over a simple step and jump to a process being done, even as mundane as putting on a washer and nut onto a screw (the orientation was critical step that wasnt detailed in the pdf. wasnt sure if the nut needed to be on the top of the tray or underneath the tray).

that was the saving grace i needed that was shown in the video that was not kinda covered in the pdf. and i loved the fact the video showed them doing every screw and not just 1 screw and jumping to the end.

yes it makes the video longer, but i rather have it long and giving the customer the ability to jump forward, but for those that need to see that simple step(s) it could save someone from calling you or getting mad for missing a simple comprehension check.

I completely understand that. I'm more going for a, "If you could only have one or the other, which would it be?"

It is much faster for us to do a detailed install video than detailed step by step instructions. Until I get an intern in here!

then i would prefer i a video, then there is no confusion on how a step is performed (as long as you dont gloss over the process and assume someone understands what was done and then move on to the next step)
