Rear Dashcam Mount

i would not advise to install a cam on the rear outside

• unless its rated for water/dust intrusion
• also make sure your pass thru power cable hole to power it is well insulated from rain, snow, dirt
• the rear of the 4R is a magnet for dust, snow, grime, rain accumulation. its like a vacuum back there
• i found out using my 2014 4R, 5 yrs of having the rear window down and the whole interior was covered in road dirt, its subtle and takes time for a build up to occur (interior wise)

Personally I'm not a fan of mounting them in the hole in the interior roof. It hangs way low and is in your way putting stuff in and out of the hatch. I mounted mine using double sided tape under the trim on the hatch itself which gets out of your way with the hatch up. JMHO

Question. How are you all routing the rear camera cable? Between the headliner/roof? Or another way?

probably the preferred method would be to route it along the floor channel and not the headliner channel (due to the air bag lines/power)

same question here. definitely don't want to interfere with any airbags and would love if someone who has already routed the cable to the front camera could chime in with tips!

I ran mine through the headliner, super easy and took maybe 5 minutes, front to back. I did change where I went through the hatch, the way I have it in the video crossed uner the hatch seal and let water in. I ended up drilling a 1/2" hole above the seal, installing a grommet and running it into the headliner through the same tube as I did in this video.

The rear camera wire install is at 12:45 ish mark.

I had bracket 3D printed, and then used the headliner clip in the center and some 3m tape to mount the camera to the bracket. Ran the rear camera cable through the roof headliner to avoid airbags, it comes out near the driver sun visor.
