Well a couple of days ago I was checking out Tustin Toyota in Tustin California. My visit was just to see a few of their 4Runners and not buy anything. Really had about five different models a couple of the TRD off-road premiums! Which is what I wanted. The downside was that the manufactured add-ons were quite over the top and tagged on thousands more than I wanted to spin off the standard premium build if you will.

Salesman looked at his deeper inventory and said oh we have another one on another level, and I said sure let's check it out he could not tell me what the options that it had until we physically saw the sticker.

Well it had the factory crossbars for the roof rail as a manufacturer add on, also had a Sirius XM Radio subscription for 33 months for $350.

But other than those items the truck was exactly what I wanted in premium options, moonroof, blacked out 4Runner letter on the back and that's it.

So went down and talked some numbers to perhaps wiggle out of some of these added items cost.

Well folks, like we all know do your shopping at the end of the month because dealerships need to make quotas. And sure enough they knocked off $3,000, and I slashed my fingers and signed in blood.

Overall Journey from the dealership was 28 miles and it had 10 miles on it.

I just have to figure out how everything works and proper procedure to go in and out of 4h, 4l, locker crawl, modes, MTS Etc it's all very confusing in a way now.

If anyone can share an information link on the workings on how to do all that? Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.. out

im totally confused by the post vs the title.

end of the post suggests you drove off the lot with a 6th gen 4R but your title says 5th gen ???

Sorry all my post was a little bit of babbling, I had way too much coffee this morning and didn't realize. Anyway it's redone cleaned up I'm just sharing that I took possession of a new TRD ORP a couple of days ago.

Trying to figure it all out now. Sorry about the confusion

if this is your 1st 4R, read the owners manual (twice and not on the say day), read the multimedia manual and the maintenance manual (they changed the interval on some items vs the 5th gen 4R since the new turbo engine)

since you have a rav4 (year not specified), most of everything should be the same in the 4R. the only big caveats is the 4wd system is nothing like a rav4, and the multimedia system could be a complete 180 from the rav4 depending on the rav4 model year.

Tons of videos online about all of those options, you probably only need 5-10 mins and you'll get it, its very straight-forward. :). I personally hate owners manuals and prefer to see things walked through.

Enjoy it!

i understand the manual issue but with a new gen and people trying to get video's out too fast, i would defer to the manual for better info until a year or two into production.

keeping a pdf on your phone with search is easier than going thru a paper book (do they even have paper books anymore or did toyota go all electronic now)

Yep, mine has a giant printed manual... I had been researching the 4R for a bit before buying the TH and then I had a 3 week wait for it to come in so spent lots of time watching those videos...

I'm not planning on buying until next spring but all the pros I've actually seen on a lot seem to have the roof rack. There's a few tings I will not pay for, that's one. XM is another one. I haven't actually talked to a dealer about removing a roof rack but with XM that should be easy to void. I get your pain of trying to find what you want. Congrats on getting as close as you did as well as getting a good deal.

If you can get an option to buy without the rack I would, mine is sitting in my garage waiting for me to sell - I put a Prinsu rack on, which should have been what came with the Trailhunter instead...
