I just heard about the Nitto Recon Grappler 295/70R18 116S which is a P load SL tire weighing in at only 52.49 Lbs. It measures out at 34.29 tall and 11.77 wide. In theory, this seems like the perfect tire for the new 4Runner. Has anyone tried these?

I just got my Pro in and it’s being fitted with these exact tires because it’s my daily and I’m not putting an E load tire on this truck and having it ride like crap. So once I put these on, I’ll report back. But the recons are phenomenal tires. I have its sister tire, the Open Country RT Trail on both my Sequoia TRD Pro and 5th gen 4R Pro and these tires are fantastic.

I think the Pro comes with E Load tires stock if I remember correctly. Unless I’m mistaken.

SL on Pros as well. E loads wouldn’t allow them to pass several tests, including mpg. 4Rs and Tacos are way too light for E loads. Sure you can absolutely get away with them and they offer fantastic off-road protection, but for a daily driver they weigh on the car a lot.

I have C loads on my current 5Th Gen Pro and they’re perfect. I have E loads on my Sequoia TRD Pro and you can certainly feel the difference. But in an 18” tire, not many C load options except for two tires, so I went with the Recons in an SL load.

Question. I also have a Pro. Do you need to lift it in order to fit the 295/70R18? I was under the impression they would fit with the stock PRO or TH suspension. Also, I’ve never ran the Recon Grappler but the Ridge Grappler was an amazing daily driver tire until about 70k miles. So I’m sure these will be even better. Can’t wait to hear your report back on this set up.

My truck is currently at 626 Customs and the tires are arriving today so I will report once all the work has been completed. I believe you do NOT need a lift on a PRO when stuffing 295/70s...maybe just needing to remove the safety bracket by the chassis (couple of bolts to remove). But I have the Westcott collar lift for the Pros hopefully shipping soon because I do want to lift it but keep the Fox QS3s.

How do you like the tires after reading about all the issues people are having with the KO3 for balancing. I’m looking at ordering them tomorrow.

I had KO3s on one of my 5th gen’s recently and they ended up being the same as KO2s in terms of balancing.
these Nittos are perfect.
