Did this at work last week just for the sake of doing it. Here's the actual scale weight of a 6th gen 4runner. Specifically, this is a Hybrid TRD ORP with a full tank of gas, 18" TRD Wheels and Nitto Ridge Grappler upgrade. (Whatever size Toyota is installing).

Toyota documentation lists the curb weight for the hybrid ORP as 5225 lbs. Guess those rails are accounting for the extra weight? Plus, I'm sure they measure with the Weenie Hut Jr wheel/tire combo?

yeah curb weight only accounts for standard equipment, fluids, full tank of gas, no passengers/cargo.

The payload on the sticker (door jamb) supposedly accounts for driver, assumes various options (moonroof, running boards, skid plates, larger tires, etc...) as part of your daily setup so they deduct this to give you a general conservative, real-world usable payload number after your 4Runner is built.

Honestly, I've never seen a vehicle on scales anywhere near curb weight. This actually is pretty close, considering the larger wheels/tires.

Their curb weight measurement is definitely going to be based on the weeny highway tires. These ridge grapplers and 18" wheels probably weigh at least another 100lbs total over the stock wheels and tires.

The 5225 listed on Toyota's site is the same for non-premium and premium so it's probably the non-premium weight. The sunroof and extras of the premium are probably the difference, but ya I'm also surprised it's that close either way.

Fair point, I didn't consider that.

Mine actually doesn't have a sunroof, can't imagine how much more it would weigh if it did.
