I was calling dealerships up to 500 miles away when I bought just to get MSRP and still had to wait a month for it to ship from Japan.
Well sometimes it comes to that. I went in on a Friday only 1.5 hrs before they closed and was willing to walk if I did not get what I wanted...they gave me what I wanted after their usual dealership games...but they were light attempts...I could tell the did not want to be there all night!

It was hard last April in California. The hybrids were not that easy to get at that time. I was also supper picky with the trim and options I wanted. AUX switches and black out package. Also didn't want one with the ARB roof rack.
Yeah that is what I wanted as well and what I ended up with. This was in June and from a dealer in Idaho.

mine from production confirmed 7-23-25 (when they will decide to build my model/trim) to build (8-22-25) to delivery (10-13-25) was 52 days (build to drive off the lot).

japan port to portland port was 13 days ship travel time (9-3-25 to 9-16-25)

sat in port from 9-13-26 to 9-24-25 (i imagine this was for PIO installations)

port processing was from 9-24-25 to rail depart was 9-25-25

rail travel was from 9-25-25 to 10-4-25 (portland to daytons bluff, mn)

sat from 10-4-25 to about 10-11-25 when it was put on a transport and delivered 10-12-25 and i drove off the lot on 10-13-25

the transport company only transports when the whole trailer is loaded with vehicles, so it could take a while (1-3 weeks) before they will haul a fully loaded trailer to a dealer.

They told me that it's being held for inspection. Based upon a Prcoessing date of 03/03/26, can anyone tell me how long it might take for this thing to actually show up?

QC holds can take from a week to as long as 2-3 months.

our 23 tundra was on QC hold from 22-dec-2022 until 20-feb-2023.

first pic is when it was put into QC hold and 2nd pic is when it was put on the transport truck

Did you really have to ruin my day like that?! HA. Thank you for the brutal truth. Maybe I should not have dropped the $2800 in accessories that I did today quite yet!

lol we had to wait 10 months from the time we put in our allocation reserve request to actual delivery.

actually during the process we had to change from a 22 tundra to a 23 tundra.

we put the request in 5-may-2022, had to change it in august of 2022 from a 22 MY tundra to a 23 MY tundra, built on 8-dec-2022 and drove off the lot on 22-feb-2023.

lol we are never in a hurry for a new vehicle.

plus when you get guaranteed invoice on a new vehicle i can wait. 68k truck for 63k was worth the wait.

same thing with my 25 4R, $67,843 on a 4R platinum for $63,114 invoice

allocation reserve request was entered on 12-13-2024, drove off the lot 10-13-2025

Can the dealer get an update on this information whatsoever? Or is it just a total waiting game?

its a dealer only access screen in dealerdaily (called pipeline status). usually they restrict it to people above the sales people (ie: owner, sales manager, F&I)

take my screenshot and print it out to give to the head desk to give them an idea what you want.

just remember, not all dealers will do it. the transparent ones will but the not so frendly ones like to restrtict that info internally.

forgot to add, if they do a printout of your status, try not to bug them too much about updates. when its on the ship, you wont get updates except when it leaves port and when it arrives.

also port processing will take at least a 1-3 weeks, and about 2 days to 3 weeks depending on how fast the transport gets fully loaded to deliver to your dealer.

they wont update the status until it hits those specific milestones, so bugging them every other day will just piss them off and tell you nothing.

Thanks for the info. They have been sending me the screenshots. But my real question is as can they find out if any of this is gonna be processed any faster or do they literally just have to wait and watch the screen like the rest of us. I’m asking him to send me a screenshot once a week.

those dates are inputted by the people after they process that step in the journey. its completely out of the control of any dealer.

its a read only status screen for the dealer. people that work directly for toyota logistics can input dates into the system.

the best you can hope for is the dealer is kind enough to send you updates weekly. i usually wait every 2 weeks after it hits a usa port.

if you can get the status where they show the ship name you can track the ship using any of the free ship tracking sites.

the pipeline status screen will show the ship name in one of the top lines as you can see below

mine was on sakura leader and i was able to track it across the ocean from japan to portland. just be mindful its a slow ship @ roughly 17-20 knots (20-23 mph) (around 4300 nm @ 20 mph = 215 hrs = 9 days continuous sailing in fair weather)

ship departed japan port on 9-3-25 and arrived portland 9-16-25 so 13 days which includes loading/sailing/unloading/waiting for port processing to start, port processing was finished on 9-24-25 then wait for railcar loading 1 day and then railcar travel 9-25-25 from portland to my regional railyard 10-4-25 daytons bluff, mn then transport from there via 3rd party transport carrier to minot, nd.
