I dont think I understand how a kinectic rope and tree can get a single car out alone, i thought the kinetic rope was solely for using with another vehicle? Let me look that up as i wait on a winch ha.
So a long time ago I did a two day Land Rover off roading course out at The Biltmore in Asheville. We did a whole morning just on recovery and winching. Btw, if your are going to get a winch I really advise you to learn how to use it properly because it can actually be very dangerous.

The way you use a recovery kit in this situation is that you tie it to a tree or other anchored object at an angle, usually a little less than 90 degrees but it really depends on how you’re stuck and what’s available to you to tie to. Then you tie it to either the front or rear of the vehicle depending on which direction you want to go in, as in which end of the vehicle you wish to get unstuck, then again depending on which direction you’re going to go you just hit the throttle and the force will pull that end of the vehicle out because the rope will naturally want to straighten itself out.

I’m probably not explaining it right but I’m sure there are videos that show how to do that, and it’s good to practice it on a slippery surface before you need to do it for real.

Honestly fun as hell, made it thru the ditch closest to here 4-5times… then the grave mistake…. Is it the stock tires? Noob driver? Or because i didnt have my ditch lights on? Crawl control in 4l, 4h, nothing working, and im seemingly digging deeper trying…what should the steps be to avoid this in the future all seriousness, better tires and a winch and im good? Know im not supposed to go alone but thats going to continue happening. Happy easter!

In my opinion that situation you were in is way way beyond just being a noob.
Maybe loosen it up it with a few tubs of C4

Good thing you have those all season floor mats......

Hmm sounds interesting but as stuck as i was, doubt that was going to work haha… will probably just look up how to use a winch and try it out myself one day once i can get one, i know its not as easy as tie it up and go so I will definitely research… gunna give her a rest for now lol

air tires down to 15 PSI, Lock rear diff and make sure it stays locked (the Gen 67 will unlock differential if you turn truck off). After airing down activate crawl control IN REVERSE and pay close attention to how the truck reacts. The truck should pull back at least 6 inches. If the truck does not pull back, then your finished, your spare tire has hung you up and the only option is to use recover boards or get a tow. If there are tree branches close by you can try gravving trunks and logs and throwing them under the front tire and that could work too but if that rear spare is hanging you up, your pretty much hooped without serious recover gear on you.

If you have rubber matts, wrap them around logs before you put the log under the tire, this can sometimes help as well.
In noob fashion, i left my air compressor at home with my mtn bike lol… crawl and locker didnt seem to move me an inch forward or back when i tried but next time i will have to make a checklist and bring my air compressor… i got out because a group of jeep rubicons on 37s with winches happened to roll by, wasnt too difficult for him but was not simple, really botched this one they were laughing their asses off hahaha.

No winch. And yeah its pretty wicked back here, i knew this going in, i was hear twice over the winter and on friday i was here in this exact area… i figured because it did not really rain since friday, i was good to hit any of these puddles today…. Its also crazy, because the nearest puddle, i hit in 2wd sport mode, barely, but got it haha. Then i hit it 4-5x over in 4wd and was blasting through… this farther puddle ate me like an early easter dinner lol. I wish i could elicit the feeling of going through that puddle too as i sit here waiting on a winch, but all i can harken back to is bottoming out in this pit lol

Looks like it was a great time until it wasn't!

From this angle it looks like you rutted it enough after a few passes to high-center yourself. I do think your boards might have helped if you dug a little and put them in front of both driver-side tires. They might give you just enough of a bump up to lift you from the solid center section where you are hung up.

I used to frequent the Pine Barrons a lot with my TJ (Jeep) back in the day. Even with 7" of lift and 37" tires I saw water crest my hood on one occasion. I finally quit going up there after we had issues with some folks being really possessive and spiking the trails to shred tires. Also, speaking from experience, give your engine bay a good scrub after you get home - underside of the hood included. That mud really seems to have a way of staining everything if left to bake in the engine heat a little. Oh, and really reverse the water through your radiator to keep it from cooking down the road.

Honestly you would be surprised how well it works (I’m also surprised that I can’t find the technique on the YouTube), we were definitely stuck when we used the technique. But yes you do need to stop trying to drive out of it the moment you realize it’s only going to get worse. There are manual and portable winches if you don’t want to be schlepping an extra 100lbs 24/7 in case you need the winch once in a blue moon. And please really learn how to properly use a winch … there are some pretty gruesome stories of people who didn’t know what they were doing and where they were standing. I need to bone up on all that stuff myself.

I never would have admitted they were jeeps. 😂
“Pretty sure” he broke down after trying to winch me out 😅… nah but i always respect people who care about their cars and tbh, these were some decked out jeeps, be hard to hate even if they didnt save my butt for which i am forever grateful, was about to start pouring haha

Was in the pine barrens with what little coverage i had, trying to find a youtube video hahahaha. Let me know if you do find one because im interested in this. Definitely still going to save up for a winch but would love to try all methods next time (hope there wont be but I’m learning theres levels to this stuff)

Now that im home… am I flushing the radiator with a garden hose after disconnecting? Or does it have to be pressure washed?

I see now i probably dont even need to disconnect it, just spray from the engine side towards grille?

@rosnaby If you have skid plates, I would also recommend temporarily removing the skid plates to clean off mud that likely collected above the skid plates.
