Recently installed a Sherpa full length roof rack and ever since I’ve been getting a weird vibration rattle in the roof when I go over rough road. I’ve banged on the rack itself and it’s completely solid, no loose bolts and no point where it sounds like it would vibrate so I’m confident it’s something in the roof. It’s also only coming from the passenger side..

I didnt have this issue when the factory ARB rack was installed so I’m wondering if the full length rack is affecting something in the roof to cause the rattle. It almost sounds like the sun roof bracket is causing the issue but I’m not sure how that would only be affected after installing the full length rack. Has anyone had a similar issue with their vehicle? Could I have over tightened the rack causing it to put too much stress on the roof supports? Any ideas on what it could be?

No issue with my Sherpa. Do you think it could be the light bar? Or maybe sunglasses in the glasses holder sliding around?
Or maybe the capture plates?

I’ll remove the light bar to see if that fixes the issue, hadn’t thought of that. Definitely not the sunglasses though since it sounds like stiff steel vibrating. The capture plates are good to since all the feet for the rack are holding solid to the roof and that’s what they screw in to.

I had a similar issue with my Westcott…. You need to make sure the faring is touching the roof pannel (put PPF under it if you want to protect the paint). A small gap will create bit rattles at high speed

Removed the lightbar and it’s still there, it really sounds like it’s coming from inside the roof just behind the sunroof. Having issues with the window track in my driver side door I’m starting to think it’s the moon roof track that’s rattling. Going to see if I can wedge a towel in there to see if that helps.
