2025 4Runner TRD Pro
Hello all! I have been wanting to join the 4runner family for a long time now and now in the position to get my first one! I have done a lot of my own research and with what I want from a 4runner I want to get either a TRD ORP or a TRD Pro. I should preface; I may have an opportunity to leave the country in 16-24 months where I would sadly sell my 4runner. So, I was trying to take into consideration resell value on the ORP and Pro. If I got ORP I would put on TRD wheels/tires or something similar like Method. Right now, I'm seeing ORP used for 54-57k that I could potentially get. I have a TRD Pro in underground locally that I got quoted MSRP. If I went with the ORP option I could save about 12-14k depending on the deal. While I absolutely love the Pro additions from the ORP, I'm not entirely sure it's worth that 12-14k increase. Something interesting I'm seeing is the ORPs with 10k+ miles are already dropped quite a lot on price, whereas the used Pros are sitting firm around the MSRP. Yeah, I know it's only been a year or less, just found that interesting! Do you guys think the Pro is worth that additional money or would it just be better to save the 12k+ and go the ORP route. Also taking into account the depreciation or resell value if I needed to in 16-24 months. Thank you for anyone taking the time to read and reply!

On a more serious note, I think this may be one of the age old questions around here. I went ORP but totally understand the Pro side as well. Reality for me is that I am 99% pavement driving, a sport would have been enough off road capability for me. A guy can dream though and an ORP was the right balance of reality and keeping the dream alive. Plus, for the Pro money I would have kept my last Land Cruiser.

Wheels and tires are easy to add obviously, you could even just do wheels depending on your taste in tires. TRD Pro wheels will always have a market for resale. In my area th ORPs can be found under MSRP new, I think mine was about $4k off a few months back - so the cost delta really is at the high end of your range difference even new vs new.

Difference between ORP and Pro. We have both and feel both are very nice vehicles. The Pro has the following things the ORP lacks.

Differing Wider wheels (standard ORP wheels are Fugly)
Wider AT Tires
Fox QS3 Adjustable Shocks F&R, Taller Springs and Billet UCAs
Heritage Front Grille
Different Front Facia
Rigid Fog Lights
Rigid Front Light Bar
Differing Headlights

I'm sure there are more items that I have overlooked. The interior in the Pro is definitely nicer. Pro drives and handles better, stereo is better. Both are very nice. We drove Julie's ORP yesterday and it's very nice. Ride is great and handling is very nice as well. Seems many up grade their SR5 and up 4Runners with Pro appointments. Love the look of the Pro Hood from outside but prefer the ORP Hood when driving. Hope this helps

Thank you for your input! I'm kind of similar in how I will most likely drive this vehicle. While I plan to take it off road once to twice a month, most of the miles will be light offroad and pavement. I do live in an area where I have access to things I haven't had a vehicle for like higher elevation snow roads and trails. I hope to take her off road as much as possible and have some fun with onX haha!

Not to derail the thread, but I didn’t realize the JBL system wasn’t the same. I tried the online builder and couldn’t tell. Anyone know what the pro gets you the premium doesn’t have from an audio standpoint?

Haha. No worries. It’s hard to keep up with all the different trims and options. You saved me from a rabbit hole to go down… was about to start shopping JBL upgrades.

Does anyone actually remove the JBL speaker?

Thank you for your response, I appreciate you taking time to write all of that! I knew 90% of these differences in my head, but man writing it out is a whole different story. Honestly didn't realize how much was different between the two until seeing your post, when you put it like that the price difference doesn't seem as steep as I originally thought. I thought the ORP had the upgraded JBL sound system, or is that a feature that had to be checked when in the build phase? I knew the Pro came with it. Also, something I'm excited about is the exhaust! I've heard from many that there is some drone from the Pro exhaust. Maybe I'm weird but I've always owned fun cars with aftermarket exhaust systems and enjoyed that part of it. I also love the interior black accenting where the gun metal silver is in the ORP. Still unsure about the blocky Toyota on the glove box haha, but it's cool, I guess! I hope you enjoy your rig! Take care!

I seldom turn it on in Julie's vehicle. We enjoy a lot of things but don't mess with one another's radios. I usually turn her's off. Problem solved. Unfortunately I have to talk more when doing so :)

You get that speaker with a TRD ORP as well.
I'm not sure but checked specs online and it says so. I was in it yesterday afternoon and evening and didn't pay attention. I also drove it early on until the Pro arrived. I'll look this coming weekend and report.
