Toyota App Update - New Remote Start Capability ???

I just recently received an update to the Toyota app and I can now start my 2025 4Runner using the app. The functionality was not there before and I just logged into my Toyota app account and I am not paying a subscription. Is this a new free functionality that came with the latest App update?

Honestly i’m not to sure, it doesn’t say anything like that in the patch notes. Go to account>Payments>Manage Subscriptions and see if it shows you under trial or not. Let me know i’m curious too. Since remote start should be good for a 1 year trial when you buy the car.

Okay, now that I've rechecked I do have an active subscription for a remote start that does expire March 27th of next year which is a year from date of purchase. I suppose that app I installed initially did not load correctly or somehow just did not include the advance remote features. I am curious how much Toyota wants for an annual subscription fee to have this functionality. I will look into that anyways. I guess you all can just disregard this thread. Thanks!

I believe it is $15 per month once your one year trial ends. cant say ill be subscribing with exception of maybe during the winter months

that is strange maybe your app just didnt load the button in the old one? i picked my 4runner up in May and the app had remote start from day 1. but i did notice that after the update i am now able to set a climate control profile for that remote start that kicks on the heat/ac and seats if i want it to. Going to use that heavily this winter.

Also like the minor layout changes the new update made.

Yea I was pretty sure everyone had it. Pretty much half the trial is over lol. It’s definitely nice to have especially since it doesn’t shut off when you open the door like some cars. But is it worth it? Not sure if i’ll actually continue after the trial.

It’s been there since day one for me (3months) on my SR5.

I prefer to use the remote.

Dont even bother with the Toyota app it’s Buggy and constantly asks you shit on your phone. Download the Lexus’s app works exactly the same without any issues. The Toyota app would constantly pop up asking if I want to ignore or allow the Toyota app. I don’t own a Lexus I got two Toyotas.

Latest update was a downgrade for me. App worked perfectly before, now (when its cold ) the app all of a sudden cant connect to my 4R and wont start. It does the animation like its going to start and then wont. Might switch to the lexus app to see if that works better
