Longtime 4Runner owner - a 2nd gen (SR5), 3rd gen (Limited), two 4th gens (both Sports), and two 5th gens (both TRD Pro's, 2015 & 2024). I love my 5th gen Pro, but I feel like I am driving the same vehicle I have been since 2015. It is time for something "new" and I believe the 6th gen will fit the bill. So, I finally test drove 3 different models this weekend: Sport Premium (4cyl gas), Limited (4cyl gas), Off Road (hybrid). My main concern was the new drivetrain, but test drives alleviated my concerns. I plan on ordering 2026 MY, but I am sure their may be incentives to get rid of the 2025's soon, so I may consider that. I am torn between the ORP or the Limited, both with the non-hybrid engine (I need the extra storage space). I primarily use it as a daily and do occasionally take it for some light offroading and snowy New England winters. My thoughts/findings so far:

OFF ROAD PREMIUM: probably Ice Cap or Cutting Edge
+ Provided the smoothest ride (probably due to the off road shocks & 18" wheel and more sidewall)
+ Premium has many of the features that the limited has
+ more capable with all of the offroad gizmos
+ $3K less than the limited

- I am not a fan of the black fender flares. Would likely have them painted to match body color (are they textured?). Probably do the mirrors and Handles at the same time.
- I would immediately change rims and tires to a 17" or 18" with 285's (BFG KO2/3 or Wildpeaks).

LIMITED: Wind Chill Pearl
+ a little more luxurious inside (Leather and soft touch body panels), plus dual zone climate, folding mirrors, etc).
+ full time 4WD
+ Adjustable suspension
+ Body color matched fender flares, mirrors, and Handles

- I would immediately change rims and tires to a 17" or 18" wheel with 285's (BFG KO2/3 or Wildpeaks).
- I don't like the Wind Chill Pearl as much as Ice Cap or Cutting Edge, but they aren't available on the Ltd.
- Adjustable suspension is more costly to repair if/when it is time to replace them.

The only optional accessories for either trim will be Tow Tech package and mud flaps.

So, If anyone has any insights, comments, or had a similar situation, I would love to hear your input and thoughts!

softex is better long term wise for durability than the leather in the limited/platinum

avs on the limited/platinum is not all that impressive.

ft4wd is mostly good for snow/ice city, not really better than a pt4wd setup with a rear locker. the center lock torsen helps but again geared mostly for city/highway snow/ice (imo)

i would stick with 18s vs 17s, easier to get chains on them if needed (especially colorado and washington state where some road are mandatory chains, no exceptions)

Thanks all for the input! Working on getting a Wind Chill Pearl Limited now. I have 2 deals on the table (2 different dealers), which do you think is the better one? I have a 2024 TRD Pro I am trading in.

- 2025 LTD MSRP $61,393: $2,500 off, so $53,500 for trade + $6,395
- 2026 LTD MSRP $61,203: $1,000 off, so $53,000 for trade + $8,349

Also, anyone regret the Portobello leather interior? My 1st choice is black, but these both have the Portobello!

Considering these r made to be modded, i went w limited because i wanted the ever so slightly better ride comfort and likes the headlights along w the minor differences in creature comforts. My suggestion would be jotting down exactly what u plan on modding and go from there

Thanks @hussch85 , only mods I plan on doing (famous last words...) are:
- 17 or 18" Wheels and tires
- Window tint & ceramic coat
- maybe a small leveling kit

Probably best going for ORP imo. Wider variety of suspension upgrades for it too

ORP was my 2nd choice. I do 95% on road driving. I don't do any real technical off roading. My old body (I am almost 60) appreciates the amenities the Limited offers. I also am not a big fan of the non-painted flares, mirrors, and handles of the ORP. I would have to have those all painted. Also, around here, the ORP's are only a few hundred $ less than the Limiteds. Limited makes more sense for me personally. YMMV.

I will miss my 24 TRD Pro. Still get tons of compliments on it. Just wish they updated the drivetrain for the old body style.

I went w the limited too. But the avs suspension doesnt seem to make a drastic difference. Then again its my first 4runner. I figured u were used to the ride quality due to ur history of 4runners. Anything would be an upgrade

If it helps im in socal and got 5k (almost) off msrp on the limited. Took a while but ORP were more widely available for similar deals
