😳I would call that on warranty …. As that spare is not safe at any speed!😬
there is nothing wrong with that donut spare

don't exceed 50mph
don't exceed 70 miles

it is not for driving around on, it's for limping
to a spot where you can remedy the tire situation
or get to where you can park it until you can fix tire.

get a full size spare if you need more from a spare tire

is it because the SR5 doesnt have a full size spare?

so i guess if you installed a 5th sensor it would report maybe?
I found the display on the SR5. It was not logical to me. I scrolled down until I saw Trip Meter A and then scrolled across to see the tire pressure. As stated, it's only the 4 tires and not monitoring the spare. Seems a shame as the spare is often forgot about until you need it and it's way low.

Maybe I could buy a full sized wheel and tire with a TPMS sensor.... Or just check the Spare every few months.

Thanks and sorry for the thread hijack.

don't bother trying to pay for a 5th sensor on an SR5
'cuz you will not get the combo meter to display 5 tires
it's not programmed to do it

The spare tire on the Pro 2025 offroad is full size with a matching wheel! The picture of this post appears to be a full size tire not a donut. The sidewall has been extremely damaged due to chaffing. This is not a safe tire, and I would claim this as a warranty issue…

OK I goofed.

we are looking at the sidewall only.... It first looked to me as the sidewall and curve and tread pattern of a donut. those side lugs of the full size appeared to be donut tread...perspective in the photo screwed me up. rim should have clued me.

It's a full size tire. Falken Wildpeak AT3Wa... OEM. Still haven't found anyone with the same issue. I would recommand you all check your spare. I had only 700km on the truck when I found the problem.

I found the same issue today. A month ago I replaced the donut by a new full size tire. Today there are deep wear marks where it rest against the frame. To prevent further damage I cut to shape a sheet of plastic floor protector for chair casters I had laying around. I wedged it between the tire and the frame. I hope it prevent it from getting worst. The contact points seem to be too skinny.

Will you do anything wirt your dealer / warranty? I'm still waiting to hear from them. But next tuesday I will call so they don't forget me. I'm not letting this fly away. This is a 300$ tire.

Hey OP, thanks for this thread!

I was fluid filming and adding skid plates this weekend when I saw this thread, so I thought I’d check my full-size spare I added a month ago. And, yep, I had a small amount of wear on the same spots. Added some packing material from the skid plates as a buffer between the spare tire and the frame. Hopefully that will stop the wear.

the slight vibration will rub a hole thru that sheeting eventually.

you need something more along the lines of metal cover. best bet would do like the old days and get a cardboard cutout for when you spray the tires with armor all and wanted to cover your wheels.

and use that as a template to cut out a metal cover

One concern I have is the hot exhaust is right next to that. It doesn't look like it would tough

the tire outer tread would be affected by it more than the metal plate would (since the outer circumference of the tire would be closer to the exhaust piping). there is enough airflow underneath to negate the heat soak i think, unless you are sitting for long periods of time idling.
