I have the TRD ORP and the upgraded JBL audio is just OK. Maybe my settings are bad. Anyone have sound level settings (treble, mid, bass) they think sound great?
Treble down one notch, bass up one notch is generally what I have mine set to. I think the panning and front to back balance is pretty good if you have the center speaker in the dash. Over all the system is a bit bright for me, so these settings seem to balance it a bit more. Iām an audio mastering engineer by day and used to compete in IASCA events years ago, so pretty picky about this stuff usually. With something like the 4Runner, I just generally accept there will be a slight loss in what Iām used to hearing unless I want to spend way more money than I need to
I have noticed that the rear lift gate speakers on my TRD PRO sound very bad when I have the lift gate raised. Too much treble and not enough base coming from the rear subwoofer.
I have a 23 Bronco that I spent a small fortune trying to get it to sound good consisting of an upgraded amp, upgraded to larger kicker speakers and added a 12ā Kicker down firing subwoofer. Broncos do not have door speakers and the like most factory systems, they have paper cones, small 8ā subs and the amp is too small and under powered.
I have no current plans to touch the 4Runner any time soon. Sounds good enough for now. I am Interested to see what economical mods people make that make noticeable changes.
