Just a quick postscript to my Sherpa Capitol rack install write up.

I discovered after washing my 4Runner with the rack on, that the T-channel slots on the tops of the crossbars fill up with water (they are essentially a trough enclosed on either end by the side rails) and would slowly seep out around the bolts over several hours and eventually evaporate.

I emailed Zach over at Sherpa and he pointed me to this product which goes easily into the T-channel slot and will block most, if not all of the water from getting in.

I installed it today, and it looks like it's going to do the trick! It's a soft silicone rubber that looks like it will hold up well over time, and it's very low profile, so it shouldn't interfere with my RTT and awning install.

Here's a photo of how it looks installed. I bought four of these on Amazon to ensure I had enough material to do all of the top-facing channels on the crossbars.

I have the 1/2 height wind fairing from Sherpa for the Capitol rack with the RIGID SR-Series LED light bar, and there is very little light spill onto the hood. Works really well together.
