Good Morning,

Just curious as to the number of Air Dams on the TRD Off Road, that fall off due to vibrating bolts, as opposed to Air Dams that are intentionally taken off.

I'm thinking rather than having the Air Dams fall off, which could result in additional repairs, that maybe I should take mine off.

4Runner TRD Off Road Premium with about 500 miles on it. Air Dam still attached but 2 bolts are only finger tight.

Thanks,

Don

I have 3200 miles on my OR and the air dam hasn't been an issue but I know that it is only going to take one random object in the road to change that. I had to swerve to miss an opossum one night and had I not seen it, that probably would have been all it took.

I'll be removing my air dam at least until Toyota resolves the problem with the bolts unfastening themselves. I don't mind how it looks on my TRD Sport Premium but if it's not going to stay put then I'd rather nip it in the bud before the unthinkable happens.

Oh boy. Will you blame Toyota if you take it off road and a tree branch scratches it? Millions upon millions of cars tear the plastic off of their cars when the pull into a parking space.

I blame the new hire engineer that thought it was a good idea to use the wrong fasteners to secure this to the vehicle. I feel for the people that are running over these bolts. There should be a hotline for people to call when they need a new tire.

I took off the air dam on my TRD ORP at about 150miles. All bolts were loose, I unscrewed them by hand --- I am glad I did, the thing could have partially disconnected/fallen while driving & what a mess that could have been. The thought occurred to me that maybe these were installed after they got to the US, a last minute type of thing. A video I saw on YouTube stated that the air dam only added about .8mile to the mpg rating.

I removed mine but my wife decided she likes it. When I removed it all of the screws were tight. I’ve checked it again when I just changed the oil for the second time and all of them are still tight.

Mine began rubbing the tires when the outer bolts came off. Removed it myself and took it back to the dealer for a free replacement on order. Probably not going to put it back on.

Took mine off today. Looks, approach angle and general rumors about them falling off. Will wait a while to avoid damage to see if they recall or fix. But, they may not go back on...

Mine was falling off on both sides at roughly 500 miles of road driving. No screws on either side. The driver side hit my tire and the corner broke off. They refused to replace it. Said it was a weather problem because it was a little windy that day. LOL I was forced to take it off.

Screws were tight at first, but after 1000 miles they became loose. I removed it to be safe.
Easier to move at home and not on the road.

If you want to keep it, add a little blue thread lock on the screws. That should be enough to keep them from vibrating loose.
